Automotive marketing that sells vehicles and fills service bays

Car shoppers compare inventory, prices and reviews across the web before they ever visit, and drivers pick a shop from the map when something breaks. We plan search, vehicle ads, social, your Google listing, email and your site around both, and we count test drives, vehicles sold and repair orders.

  • 8,100searches a month for "car dealerships near me" in the Charlotte area

The short answer

What should automotive marketing actually deliver?

Good automotive marketing turns the inventory on your lot and the open hours in your service bays into appointments, test drives and sales you can trace back to their source.

Most automotive ad agencies and auto dealer ad agencies report traffic and page views, which say little about cars sold. We tie every call, form, chat and booked appointment to the ad or search that started it, hand each lead to your CRM, and judge channels by the vehicles and repair orders they produce. The same plan covers the showroom and the service drive, because for most dealers the service customer is the next sales customer.

What dealers and service shops need from marketing.

A franchise dealer, an independent used car lot and a repair shop all sell to drivers, but they win the sale in different places. These are the needs we plan around.

  • Ads that match the lot

Shoppers search by make, model, body style and price. When advertising automotive inventory, dealership ads should show the vehicles actually in stock and stop the day one sells.

  • Calls and leads in the CRM

Calls, forms and chats should land in the CRM with their source attached, so the sales team follows up fast and nobody guesses where buyers came from.

  • Inventory that turns

Every day a used vehicle sits costs money. Budget should lean on aged units and the models with the most local demand.

  • Booked service appointments

For repair and service, the result is a booked bay. Online booking, call handling and reminders matter as much as the ad.

  • Reviews and a strong map listing

Drivers choose dealers and shops by stars, recent reviews and replies. The map listing often decides the call.

  • Service customers who buy again

Oil changes and repairs keep the relationship going. Reminders and automotive email marketing turn service visits into trade-ins and the next sale.

What car buyers and drivers search, in Charlotte and across the US.

Monthly searches and estimated click costs for dealer, used car and repair searches. Shopping clicks are cheap; service clicks cost more because a single repair order is worth more than a single page view.

Tax refunds move the used car market
In the Charlotte area, "used cars" reached about 9,900 searches in March 2026 against 6,600 in most months, and "buy here pay here charlotte" rose from 3,600 to 5,400 in February and March. Used car budgets should be loaded for that window.
Summer fills the service bays
"car ac repair" runs about 4,400 searches a month in the Charlotte area from May to July and drops to about 1,300 in January and February. Service offers and budgets follow the weather.
Buying inventory costs more than selling it
Searches like "sell my car" cost $9 to $23 a click in Charlotte, several times a used car shopping click. For dealers short on used inventory, trade-in and buy-your-car campaigns are a separate plan with a separate budget.

Our approach: it depends, and the data decides.

A franchise store with several hundred units, an independent used car lot and a two-bay repair shop need different plans. Four things set the starting point.

  • Your goals Move aged units, grow used car gross, fill the service drive or buy more trade-ins. Each one starts in a different place.
  • Your inventory and timeline What is on the lot today, how fast it turns and which months bring tax refunds or new model years.
  • Your budget and margins Front-end and back-end gross, average repair order and any OEM co-op rules set what a lead is worth.
  • Your competition Large dealer groups, national used car retailers and chain service centers change which searches are worth fighting for.

Data sets the starting mix between search, vehicle ads and social, ties every call and lead to a sold vehicle or a repair order, and shows when to move budget between sales and service.

  • Franchise dealership

Sell new and used inventory and grow service

Vehicle ads from the inventory feed, model and brand search, Facebook inventory ads, and service campaigns that respect OEM co-op rules.

  • Independent used car dealer

    Turn the lot faster

Used car and financing searches, vehicle ads, Facebook inventory ads and fast follow-up on every lead.

  • Repair, body or tire shop

    Fill the bays every week

The map listing and reviews, search ads for the jobs with the best margin, and reminders that bring drivers back.

If a Charlotte dealer came to us, here is how we would start.

This is the plan we would pitch to a real client, built for a fictional Charlotte used car dealer with its own service department, using real search data. The dealer, its phone number and its website are invented. Sample data shows the kind of results a campaign like this tracks; it is not a client result and not a promise.

  • salvage
  • junkyard
  • auction

Job seekers, parts lookups, owners fixing their own car and salvage hunters type the same words but never buy a vehicle or book a bay. Blocking them keeps the budget on shoppers and drivers ready to act.

The Google listing and the map

Shoppers and drivers check the map, photos and reviews before they call. The listing carries separate sales and service hours, real photos of the lot and the shop, a booking link and replies to every review. For inventory, Google vehicle ads show the vehicle, price and mileage straight from the dealer feed, and send the shopper to that vehicle's page.

Automotive marketing in Charlotte, and for dealers nationwide.

We are based in Charlotte and know how the market splits: the dealer corridors along Independence Boulevard and South Boulevard, the auto malls toward Concord and Matthews, and the independent lots and shops from Gastonia to Rock Hill. We also work with dealers and automotive businesses across the US, with each campaign planned on its own market’s search data.

Six revenue leaks we fix in automotive ad accounts.

When we audit dealer and repair shop accounts, we rebuild these six areas first so budget follows sold vehicles and booked repair orders.

  1. Training bidding on sold vehicles and closed ROs, not raw form fills

A lead count says nothing about gross. We sync sold vehicles and completed repair orders back from your DMS or CRM so bidding optimizes for real buyers.

  2. Tracking every sales and service phone call by source

Most car buyers and almost every service customer call. We deploy dynamic call tracking so the campaigns driving showroom visits and bay bookings get the budget.

  3. Routing model and price searches directly to matching inventory

A shopper who searched for a used truck under $25,000 should land on those trucks. We link ads directly to filtered VDPs, SRPs and service pages so shoppers convert on the first click.

  4. Blocking parts lookups, manuals and salvage searches with negative lists

Parts lookups, repair manuals, salvage and job searches look close to buyer searches. We maintain shared negative keyword lists that keep spend on ready-to-buy shoppers and repair customers.

  5. Actively managing Google reviews and dealer responses

Shoppers read the latest reviews and how the store or shop answered them. We build post-sale and post-service review workflows that lift map rankings and call rates.

  6. Separating vehicle sales and fixed-ops service budgets

Service clicks convert at a much higher rate than vehicle shopping clicks. We isolate sales and service into dedicated campaigns so neither side starves the other.

Our analysis for automotive businesses

Questions dealers and shops ask us.

Can you work within our OEM co-op program?

Yes. Franchise campaigns are planned around the brand’s co-op and advertising rules from the start, so eligible spend is documented and reimbursement is not put at risk.

Will you work with our current dealer website provider?

Usually, yes. Most dealer website platforms allow tracking, vehicle feeds and landing pages we can work with. Where a platform limits something important, we show what it costs you and the options.

Should we start with search, vehicle ads or Facebook?

It depends on inventory, market and budget. Most dealers start with search and vehicle ads because they catch active shoppers, then add social inventory ads once tracking shows what each lead is worth.

How fast do calls and leads start?

Paid search and vehicle ads usually produce calls and leads in the first weeks. Sold vehicles and the cost per sale settle over the first few months, once enough sales come back from the CRM.

Do you work with repair shops and other automotive businesses?

Yes. Repair, collision, tire, detailing and glass businesses run on the map, reviews and service searches, and we plan and track them in booked appointments and repair orders.

Do you only work with dealers in Charlotte?

No. We are based in Charlotte and work with dealers and automotive businesses across the US, with each campaign planned on that market’s own search data.
