The short answer

Who should run your Mailchimp?

A team that measures sales, not opens. Overtop Media Digital Marketing builds Mailchimp programs around what a customer is worth to you: the flows that earn every day, the segments that keep email relevant, and the setup that keeps it out of spam.

Mailchimp is one part of our email marketing service. Most Mailchimp accounts we see send one newsletter to everyone and leave the automations empty. That is where the money is. We connect Mailchimp to your store, booking system or CRM, build the flows your business needs, and plan email alongside your Google Ads and Facebook and Instagram ads, so the people your ads bring in keep buying.

Hero figures: Mailchimp, email marketing platform (average delivery rate, all users and plans, Jan 1 to Dec 31, 2024); Mailchimp, AI marketing tools (US users sending email and SMS vs. email only, Aug 1, 2023 to Jul 28, 2026); Mailchimp, integrations directory.

What Mailchimp does for your business.

Six results our clients hire us for. Open each one to see how we get there and the evidence behind it.

Sales that run on their own

A welcome series for new subscribers, a thank-you and a next-step email after the first order, a reminder when it is time to buy again. We build these automation flows once, and they work every day for every new customer, without anyone pressing send.

Mailchimp reports up to 4x more orders through users’ connected stores from automation flows than when they used bulk emails. Source: Mailchimp, marketing automation flows.

Carts and checkouts you win back

Most shoppers leave without buying the first time. Browse, cart and checkout reminders bring them back with the product they looked at, at the moment they are still deciding, and stop as soon as they buy.

Mailchimp reports up to 1.7x more attributed revenue from abandoned cart automation flows than from bulk emails (paid users with a connected store, January 2025 to January 2026; results vary). Source: Mailchimp, AI marketing tools.

Emails that reach the inbox

An email in the spam folder sells nothing. We set up your sending domain correctly (SPF, DKIM and DMARC), clean the list, warm up new senders and keep sending patterns healthy, so your messages land where customers read them.

The right message for each customer

A first-time visitor, a loyal customer and someone who has not bought in a year need different emails. We build segments from purchases, interests, location and engagement, so each person gets the message that fits, and nobody gets a blast meant for everyone.

Text messages that get read now

For a flash sale, a booking reminder or the last day of a fundraiser, a text is read within minutes. We add SMS where timing matters, with clear consent, and keep email for everything else, so the two channels lift each other.

Mailchimp reports up to 2x higher click rates for US users who sent both email and SMS compared with email only (August 2023 to July 2026), and up to 22x ROI for e-commerce users after their first SMS campaign (within one year; connected store required; results may vary). Reports that show what pays

Opens and clicks are a start. We report the orders, bookings, donations and leads each email and flow produced, compare your results with your industry, and tell you in plain language what we are changing next.

The automations we build first.

Every business is different, but most need the same few flows. They are written for your products and your customers, then tested against each other until each one earns its place.

  • Welcome series

Introduces your business, your best sellers and your story to every new subscriber.

  • Abandoned cart

Brings shoppers back to the cart they left, with the right nudge for its value.

  • Browse follow-up

Reminds visitors about the products or services they looked at.

  • Post-purchase

Thanks, how-to tips and a review request after every order or job.

  • Replenish and rebook

Asks at the right time to reorder, rebook or schedule the next visit.

  • Win-back

Wakes up customers who have gone quiet before they forget you.

  • Lead nurture

Turns quote requests and inquiries into booked jobs and signed deals.

  • Birthdays and milestones

Personal dates and anniversaries that give customers a reason to come back.

Not a store? The same flows work for bookings, quotes, memberships and donations. A home services company follows up on estimates; a dental practice reminds patients when they are due; a nonprofit thanks every first-time donor.

Email and text, one plan.

Some messages need a story; some need to be seen right now. Mailchimp sends both from one audience, and we decide which channel each message belongs in, so customers hear from you in the way they prefer, without being messaged twice.

  • Email for the story

Newsletters, launches, guides and offers with room for photos, detail and several products.

  • Text for the moment

Flash sales, reminders, last-chance alerts and order updates that need to be seen in minutes.

  • One audience, one plan

Both channels share one contact list and one calendar in Mailchimp, so nobody is messaged twice about the same thing.

  • Up to 2xhigher click rates for US users who sent both email and SMS, compared with email only (Aug 2023 to Jul 2026).
  • Up to 22xROI for e-commerce users after their first SMS campaign, within one year (connected store required; results may vary).

Connected to the tools you already use.

Email is only as smart as the data behind it. We connect Mailchimp to your store, booking system, CRM or website, so every segment and every flow reacts to what customers actually did: what they bought, booked, browsed or asked about.

Mailchimp connects with more than 300 apps, including Shopify, WooCommerce, Square, Salesforce and HubSpot. Where there is no ready-made connection, we use Mailchimp’s API or a tool like Zapier.

  • Up to 30xROI for paid-plan users who connect their e-commerce store (Aug 2024 to Aug 2025; results vary).
  • 300+integrations in Mailchimp’s directory.

Is Mailchimp the right platform for you?

Often yes, not always. We recommend the platform that fits your business, even when it is not the one you are on.

Mailchimp is a strong fit when

  • You want email, SMS, forms and landing pages in one easy tool
  • You are a small or growing business, nonprofit or online store
  • Your team will use it day to day and needs it to be simple
  • You sell on Shopify, WooCommerce, Square or a similar store

We may recommend another platform when

  • A large Shopify catalog needs very deep product and revenue automation
  • Sales and marketing must share one CRM with deal pipelines
  • Your list is very large and email is a major revenue line
  • You already run a platform that works and switching would cost more than it saves

Comparing Mailchimp with Klaviyo, Constant Contact or HubSpot? Our email marketing guide compares the main platforms, and we run Klaviyo and HubSpot too. The FAQ below covers the common questions.

Switching to Mailchimp, without losing a sale.

A platform move is where lists get lost and emails start landing in spam. We plan it so neither happens, and we time it around your busy season.

It can be quick: Mailchimp published the story of a wellness brand that was fully running two weeks after starting its move, in time for Black Friday.

  1. 1

    Audit what you have

Your lists, consent records, flows, templates, forms and integrations, so nothing is lost in the move.

  2. 2

    Move and authenticate

Contacts, tags and history imported cleanly, and your sending domain authenticated before the first send.

  3. 3

    Rebuild what earns

Your best flows and templates rebuilt, and improved where they were underperforming.

  4. 4

    Warm up and switch over

Sending ramped up to your most engaged contacts first, then the old platform is retired.

What Mailchimp has done for businesses like yours.

  3. Mailchimp turns subscribers into customersFlows, newsletters and texts bring them back to buy.
  4. Data closes the loopSales flow back to your ad platforms so they find more people like your best customers.

Every subscriber your ads bring in is a customer you can reach again for free. That is why we plan email with your Google Ads and Meta ads on one budget, and send sales data back to those platforms, as our guide to first-party data and attribution explains.

Questions about Mailchimp.

How much does Mailchimp cost?

Mailchimp has four plans: Free (for up to 250 contacts), Essentials, Standard and Premium. The price depends mainly on your number of contacts, and text messages are an add-on on paid plans. Mailchimp also offers nonprofits and charities a 15% discount. You pay Mailchimp directly and the account stays in your name. Our work is quoted separately once we understand your business, because every client gets a custom plan rather than a package. Use the plan finder above to see which Mailchimp plan fits.

Is Overtop Media Digital Marketing a Mailchimp partner?

Yes. OVERTOP is enrolled in Mailchimp & Co, Mailchimp’s partner program for agencies, and is also a Google Partner and a Meta Business Partner, based in Charlotte since 2009. You work directly with the people who build and run your email, not a call center.

Mailchimp or Klaviyo: which is better?

It depends on the business. Mailchimp is easier to use, covers email, SMS, forms and landing pages in one place, and suits most small and growing businesses, nonprofits and online stores. Klaviyo is built around e-commerce data and can suit large online stores with complex catalogs. We recommend the one that fits your list, your team and your revenue, and we will tell you if switching is not worth it.

Mailchimp or Constant Contact?

Both are easy, all-in-one email tools for small businesses. Mailchimp is strong on automation flows, store integrations and SMS on the same platform. The right answer depends on what you need email to do, and we are happy to compare both for your business.

Can you move us to Mailchimp from another platform?

Yes. We audit your current lists, consent records, flows and templates, move everything across, authenticate your sending domain and warm up sending, so you keep your audience and your deliverability. Mailchimp published a story of a wellness brand that was fully running on Mailchimp two weeks after starting its move.

Do you write and design the emails?

Yes. We plan the calendar, write the copy, design the templates in your brand and build the flows. You approve what goes out, and you can send your own campaigns any time, because the account is yours.

Can Mailchimp send text messages?

Yes. SMS is an add-on to Mailchimp’s paid plans in select countries, and it requires an application and approval. In the US, businesses can also apply for a dedicated short code. We handle the setup, consent language and message plan.

Why are my Mailchimp emails going to spam?

Usually because the sending domain is not fully authenticated, the list includes old or unengaged contacts, or the same email goes to everyone. We fix authentication (SPF, DKIM and DMARC), clean and segment the list, and change the sending pattern so inbox placement recovers.

Who owns the Mailchimp account and the list?

You do. The account, the contacts and every template stay in your name. We work inside your account with our own login, so you can see everything we do.

Do you work with businesses outside Charlotte?

Yes. We run Mailchimp for businesses across the Charlotte metro, the Carolinas and nationwide, from our Charlotte office.
