Photography and video production

Video production marketing that books the shoots worth taking

Photo and video studios sell to couples, families, professionals and companies, and each one shops in a different month at a different click price. We plan search, social ads, email, your Google listing and your portfolio pages around the shoots that pay, and we count booked sessions and signed projects, not likes.

  • 1,300Charlotte-area searches for "wedding photographer" in July 2026, against 210 in September
  • $3.50low end of the estimated click cost for "real estate photography" in the Charlotte area, against $0.94 for "photo studio near me"
  • 390Charlotte-area searches for "i need a videographer" in August and September 2026, up from 10 a month in late 2025
  • 260Charlotte-area searches for "family christmas photos" in November 2025, then 20 or fewer a month from January to September

The short answer

What should video production marketing deliver?

Video production marketing should fill the calendar with the shoots a studio wants most: weddings booked a season ahead, headshot and family sessions in their busy months, and business projects whose budgets carry a higher click price.

In the photo and video accounts we audit, one pattern repeats. The portfolio is strong, but the ads and pages treat every visitor the same, so cheap portrait clicks and price shoppers fill the inbox while the companies with real video budgets never see an offer made for them. We split photographer marketing by client type: search ads for people ready to book, social ads that put the work in front of couples and families before they search, SEO for photographers with a portfolio page for every kind of shoot, and a Google listing that shows real recent work. Each line is judged by booked sessions and signed projects, never by followers.

What photographers and video studios need their marketing to solve.

These are the pressures we see in photo and video accounts, from solo wedding photographers to studios that film for brands. They are why this plan looks nothing like the plan for an IT firm or a staffing agency.

  • The portfolio does the selling

Clients choose with their eyes. Ads, listings and pages have to lead with real recent work for the exact kind of shoot the visitor wants.

  • Consumers and companies at once

A couple planning a wedding and a marketing manager hiring a crew read different pages, compare different things and pay very different amounts.

  • Seasons that book months ahead

Weddings, senior portraits and holiday family sessions are each searched in their own months. Booking happens before the busy season, not during it.

  • Fewer price shoppers

Searches about average cost and cheap sessions eat budget. The ads and pages have to attract people who value the work and filter out the rest.

  • Spend that follows shoot value

A mini session, a full wedding and a brand video are worth very different amounts. Budgets follow what each kind of booking earns.

  • Proof clients can trust

Couples and companies read reviews and look for work in places they know. Every channel needs real names, venues and results the studio can show.

Our approach: it depends, and the data decides.

A wedding photographer, a headshot studio and a crew that films for brands need different plans. Four things decide where a photo and video plan starts.

  • Your goals More weddings for next year, fuller weekday studio time, more business clients, or a new service like drone or real estate work. Each starts with a different campaign.
  • Your timeline Search ads and the map listing can bring inquiries within days. Portfolio pages and SEO build over months, so wedding and holiday plans start a season ahead.
  • Your shoot value What a mini session, a wedding package and a brand video earn sets what an inquiry can cost. Business projects can carry $3 to $10 clicks; quick portrait sessions cannot.
  • Your competition Charlotte has many photographers and few with pages for each kind of shoot. A studio wins on the shoot types, venues and towns it knows best, not on the broadest terms.

Data ties each booking to the search, ad, listing or page that started it, and shows which channels bring the clients who sign the larger packages and come back for the next shoot.

If a photo and video studio came to us, here is how we would start.

This is the pitch we would give a real client, built for a fictional Charlotte photo and video studio with real search data. The studio, its phone number and its website are invented. Sample data shows the kind of results a campaign like this tracks; it is not a client result and not a promise.

How our specialists segment search demand by buyer intent

We would split the account by kind of shoot. Each group gets its own budget, portfolio landing page and booking value, so spend follows the shoots and seasons that pay best.

Weddings

The highest-value bookings for most studios. Budget rises in March and again in July, when couples search most, and every ad leads to a gallery of real weddings.

SearchCharlotte area / moEst. click cost
wedding photographer590$2.04 to $5.06
wedding videographer170$1.52 to $4.47
elopement photographer170$1.37 to $5.48
wedding photographers near me90$2.27 to $6.00

Headshots and business portraits

Steady studio work all year, with a lift from January to March. Company headshot days book several people at once, so they get their own ads.

SearchCharlotte area / moEst. click cost
professional head shot590$1.71 to $5.28
headshots near me90$1.49 to $5.47
corporate headshots70$2.33 to $8.31
business headshots50$2.82 to $6.11

Business video and commercial

Fewer searches but the largest projects. Each term leads to a project page with examples from that kind of client, and calls are tracked apart from portrait inquiries.

Family, newborn and seniors

Lower click prices and clear seasons: family sessions from September to December, seniors from July to September. Offers and budgets move with each calendar.

How our negative keyword governance protects the budget

  • Price and "average cost" research searches
  • Free, cheap and DIY photo searches
  • Photo restoration, printing and passport photos
  • Photography jobs, classes and camera gear
  • Stock photos and free images
  • Shoot types and towns the studio does not cover

Photography searches mix buyers with people pricing, learning or looking for free images. Our specialists keep those out of every group before launch and review the search terms every week, so the budget reaches people ready to book.

How we write and test the Google search ads

Each intent group gets message-matched ad copy engineered by our specialists to qualify buyers before the click and lift expected click-through rate.

The Instagram ad

Couples look at work long before they search for a photographer. This ad runs to engaged couples in the Charlotte area in the spring and midsummer peaks, with a full gallery, not a single photo, so the inquiries that follow already like the style.

The email

Searches for family christmas photos jump in November and are almost gone by January. This email goes to past family and newborn clients in September and October, so the calendar fills before the searches peak.

Fresh photos from real shoots, services for each kind of session and replies to reviews, inside Google’s rules for business listings, so the studio shows up for "photographer near me" with work people can judge.

  • YouTubeShort films that sell the next wedding

Wedding trailers and brand film cutdowns run as video ads to couples and marketing teams in the Charlotte area, so the work itself does the selling.

  • LinkedInMarketing leaders with video budgets

Ads to marketing managers and agency producers at Charlotte companies, with case pages for brand and product video. Many photographers work for themselves, as the Bureau of Labor Statistics profile notes, so a studio that markets to companies directly stands out.

What each piece turns into, and how they hand off

  1. Social ads show the work Full galleries to couples and families first.
  2. Search catches the bookers Weddings, headshots and business video.
  3. Email fills each season Holiday and senior dates to past clients.
  4. Bookings teach the bidding Signed packages sent back to every ad platform.

How our team tracks calls, bookings and revenue

  • Inquiries and calls by shoot typeDate checks, quote requests and calls recorded in Google Ads, Meta and analytics by keyword group and landing page, with wedding, portrait and business kept apart.
  • Booked sessions and signed packagesBookings from the studio’s client system tied to the click that started them, so bidding favors the shoots that pay, not the cheapest inquiries.
  • Gallery views that lead to inquiriesWhich galleries and films visitors watch before they get in touch, so ads and pages lead with the work that converts.
  • A monthly report for each lineSpend, inquiries, cost per inquiry, booked sessions and booking value for weddings, portraits and business work, compared with the same month last year.

Video production marketing from Charlotte, for studios everywhere.

We are based in Charlotte, where couples marry from Uptown rooftops to lake and mountain venues, families book sessions in parks across the region, and banks, hospitals and brands hire crews all year. A photo and video plan follows where your clients live and where you shoot, so we plan by town, venue and drive time. We work with photographers and video production companies across the Charlotte region and nationwide.

Six growth leaks we fix in photography and video ad accounts.

When we take over photo and video accounts, these are the places we most often find bookings leaking, and what we change first.

  1. One campaign for every kind of shoot

When weddings, headshots and business video share a budget, the cheapest portrait clicks win and companies rarely see an ad made for them. We split groups by shoot type, each with its own page, budget and booking value.

  2. Ads that open on the home page

A couple who searched for a wedding photographer lands on a mix of newborns and products and leaves. We send every group to a page with only that kind of work and one clear next step.

  3. Booking season starts too late

Holiday family searches peak in November and wedding searches in spring and July. We start the offers, emails and budgets a few weeks before each peak, so the dates fill early.

  4. Paying for price research

Searches about average cost and cheap sessions bring clicks that rarely book. We keep them out of the ads and answer price questions on the page in the studio’s own terms.

  5. Counting likes as results

Followers and views do not pay the bills. We send booked sessions and signed packages back to the ad platforms, so bidding finds more people who book.

  6. Portfolio pages that load slowly

Huge image files make galleries crawl on phones, and visitors leave before the best work appears. We rebuild galleries to load fast on mobile without losing the quality clients came to see.

Questions photographers and video studios ask us.

Should a studio advertise weddings, portraits or business video first?

It depends on what pays best and where the calendar has gaps. Weddings usually carry the most per booking, portraits fill weekdays, and business video brings the largest projects. We look at your bookings by type and the search demand for each before we set the split.

Do Google Ads work for photographers?

For people ready to book, often yes, because they search with clear intent: a wedding photographer, a headshot, a video production company. Photographer ads work best when each kind of shoot has its own page and the price research searches are kept out.

When should a wedding photographer advertise?

Ahead of the search peaks. In the Charlotte area, wedding photographer searches rose in March and April 2026 and again in July, so budgets and social ads start a few weeks before those months.

Is Instagram enough to get clients?

Instagram shows the work, but many clients still search when they are ready to book. We use social ads to build interest and search, the map listing and portfolio pages to capture the booking.

Do you work with studios outside Charlotte?

Yes. We are based in Charlotte and handle photography business marketing and video production advertising nationwide. The method is the same everywhere; the shoot types, the seasons, the venues and the competition change.

What do you measure besides inquiries?

Booked sessions, signed packages, booking value by shoot type, cost per booking and repeat clients. Each line, weddings, portraits and business work, is reported on its own.
