What you pay for, and what you don't.

Local Services Ads show your business at the top of Google with your rating, your hours and the Google Verified badge. A customer taps to call, sends a message or requests a booking, and that contact is the lead you pay for. Nobody pays for a click that goes nowhere.

Phone calls
An answered call is a lead. So is a call you miss during business hours if the caller stays on the line for more than 20 seconds, which is why answering fast matters.
Messages
Customers can text or email you straight from the ad. Google prices message leads lower than calls in most cases.
Booking requests
Where your category offers it, customers request an appointment from the ad and it lands in your schedule.
Repeat contacts
The same customer calling or messaging again within 15 days is not charged again.
Bad leads
Spam and duplicates are filtered before you pay, and Google re-checks charged leads and credits low-quality ones automatically, usually within 30 days.

Local Services Ads changed. Most advice did not.

Four changes since 2024 reshaped how Local Services Ads work, yet many pages still sell lead disputes and a money-back guarantee that no longer exist. Here is what is true today, from Google’s own pages.

  1. 2024

    Automatic lead credits

Google replaced manual lead disputes with automatic credits. Leads for job types or areas you do not serve are no longer credited.

Your settings now protect your budget, so we set job types, areas and hours to keep wrong-fit leads away in the first place.

  2. October 2025

    One badge: Google Verified

On October 20, 2025, Google Verified replaced Google Guaranteed, Google Screened and License Verified by Google, and the money-back guarantee ended.

Verified businesses kept their status. New businesses earn the badge by passing the checks for their category.

  3. August 2026

    LSA moves into Google Ads

Google began moving Local Services Ads into Google Ads, starting with US home and storefront services. More business types follow in late 2026 and 2027.

Still pay per lead, still the same spots. Budgets become daily averages, manual bidding goes away and old reports do not transfer, so we export your history first.

  4. Now

    Missed calls can cost you

A call you miss during business hours counts as a lead if the caller stays on the line for more than 20 seconds. Calls outside your listed hours are not charged.

Call handling is part of the cost now. We set hours, phone menus and routing so you pay for conversations, not voicemail.

Verification and the Google Verified badge

We gather everything Google asks for before you apply: business registration, owner and technician details for background checks, and licenses and insurance certificates that match your business name and service area. Then we see the checks through to the badge, and we watch for Google’s follow-up reviews, which can pause your ads if they are missed.

Google says verification takes 3 to 4 weeks on average once documents are submitted, and businesses are not charged for the background check.

A profile built to rank

There is no ad copy to write: your ad is built from your profile. We choose the right categories and the job types you actually want, draw your service area, set your hours and write a business bio that gives customers a reason to call. Then we add real photos of your team and your work.

In a Google experiment, home services providers who added at least one photo saw on average 16% more leads (US and Canada, December 2023 to January 2024).

Reviews that earn the call

Your rating and review count come from your Google Business Profile and weigh on where you rank. We set up a simple routine for asking every happy customer for a review with Google’s own review link, and we help you answer reviews, good and bad. No rewards for reviews, ever: Google does not allow them.

Google recommends at least 5 reviews, and some business types need 5 before the ad can show.

Budget and bidding

You set an average weekly budget. Google can spend more in a busy week and less in a slow one, within a monthly cap. We pick the bidding approach that fits your goal, from letting Google maximize leads to holding a target cost per lead, and we move the budget with your season and your capacity, including a pause when your schedule is full.

Google suggests a budget that covers at least 10 leads a week, and about two weeks for bidding to settle after a change.

Lead quality and credits

We review your leads every week, rate them in Google’s lead feedback tool and track what was credited. Since manual disputes ended, the bigger savings come earlier: the right job types, service areas and hours stop wrong-fit leads from being charged at all.

Google no longer credits leads for job types or areas you do not serve, which makes your settings the first line of defense.

Calls, messages and bookings

Responsiveness is one of the things Google ranks you on, and a missed call during business hours can still be charged. We help set your hours, phone menu, call forwarding and after-hours coverage, switch on messages and bookings where they fit, and connect leads to your calendar or CRM so you see which ones became paying jobs.

Google lists responsiveness, response time and the ways customers can reach you among the factors that decide your ranking.

One results page, four ways to be found.

Local Services Ads are the first thing many customers see, but they are not the only thing. Google recommends running them alongside search ads, and customers who scroll past the top still find you in the map results and the organic listings. We plan all four together.

Local Services Ads
Win the customer who is ready to call now, with your rating and the Google Verified badge up front.
Google Ads search
Cover what Local Services Ads cannot: specific services, your brand name and the higher-value jobs you want more of. See our Google Ads service.
Google Business Profile
Your ad’s name, address, hours and reviews all come from your profile, so a strong Google Business Profile lifts both the ads and your place in Maps.
SEO and your website
Organic rankings and a fast website catch the customers who research before they call, with no cost per click. Start with our local SEO approach.

When a business also wants to create demand before people search, we add Meta ads or YouTube ads to the same budget.

Our approach: your numbers decide the plan.

Every business is different. Your goals, timeline, budget and competition decide whether Local Services Ads alone, LSA with search ads or a wider mix makes sense. Data picks the direction, proves what works and tells us when to change course.

  • GoalsBooked jobs, the kind of work you want more of, and what a new customer is worth to you.
  • TimelineHow soon you need calls, and whether search ads should carry you while verification runs.
  • BudgetWhat a lead costs in your category and market, and how many leads your team can handle.
  • CompetitionHow many verified competitors you face, their ratings and how fast they answer.

A strong fit when

  • Your business type is eligible and licensed where it needs to be
  • Someone answers the phone during the hours you list
  • You have real Google reviews, or a plan to earn them
  • A typical job is worth well more than a lead costs
  • You have room on the schedule for more work

Worth fixing first when

  • Calls would go unanswered during business hours
  • You have few or no reviews in a busy category
  • Licenses or insurance do not match your business name
  • Your jobs are worth less than a typical lead
  • You are already booked out for the season

How we run your Local Services Ads.

No packages and no templates. Every client gets a plan built around their own numbers, and the order below never changes.

  1. 1Learn your businessYour goals, the jobs you want, your service area, your capacity and what a customer is worth.
  2. 2Check and verifyEligibility confirmed, documents gathered and the Google Verified checks seen through.
  3. 3Build the profileCategories, job types, areas, hours, photos, bio and a review routine that keeps working.
  4. 4Launch and answerCalls, messages and bookings handled fast, with every lead reviewed and tracked.
  5. 5Measure and growCost per booked job, budget moved with the season, and search ads or SEO added where data says so.

What Google’s own numbers say.

Questions about Local Services Ads.

How much do Google Local Services Ads cost?

You pay per lead, not per click. The price of a lead is set in Google’s auction and depends on your business type, your market and your competition, and message leads usually cost less than calls. You set an average weekly budget, and Google caps monthly spend at that weekly amount times 30.4 divided by 7. Our management is quoted separately once we understand your business, because every client gets a custom plan rather than a package.

What happened to Google Guaranteed and Google Screened?

On October 20, 2025, Google replaced Google Guaranteed, Google Screened and License Verified by Google with one badge: Google Verified. The Google Guarantee money-back program ended at the same time and only covered services booked before December 7, 2025. Businesses that were already verified kept their status and received the new badge automatically.

How do I get the Google Verified badge, and how long does it take?

You pass the checks Google requires for your business type. Depending on your category and state, they can include business registration, an identity check, background checks on owners and on workers who visit customers, licenses and insurance. Google says it takes 3 to 4 weeks on average after documents are submitted, and the background check is free. We prepare the documents and follow the process through to the badge.

Which businesses can run Local Services Ads?

In the US, Google offers Local Services Ads to home services, lawyers, real estate agents, financial planners, tax specialists, health care providers, education, child and pet care, wellness, beauty and auto businesses, and restaurants are in a pilot. A few categories are limited to California and Florida for now. Use the business-type picker on this page, or ask us to check yours.

What is the difference between Local Services Ads and Google Ads search?

Local Services Ads are built from your verified profile, have no keywords and charge per lead, and they show above the other results. Google Ads search campaigns use keywords and ad copy and charge per click, which gives more control over exactly which searches and services you show for. Google recommends running both, and so do we for most local businesses.

Can I run Local Services Ads and Google Ads at the same time?

Yes. The two cover different moments: LSA wins the customer who is ready to call now, and search ads cover specific services, your brand name and higher-value jobs. Local Services Ads cannot target competitor or brand names, but search ads can. We plan both on one budget so they work together instead of chasing the same customer.

Am I charged for spam or bad leads?

Spam and duplicate contacts are filtered before you are charged. Google then keeps re-checking charged leads and credits low-quality ones automatically, usually within 30 days. Manual disputes no longer exist, leads for job types or areas you do not serve are no longer credited, and health care and tax specialist accounts get no credits at all, so the right settings matter more than ever.

Am I charged for missed calls?

Sometimes. A call you miss during your business hours counts as a lead if the caller stays on the line for more than 20 seconds. With a phone menu, the 20 seconds start after the caller presses the first key, and a voicemail or automated greeting during business hours counts too. Calls outside the hours on your Google Business Profile are not charged.

How does Google rank Local Services Ads?

Google looks at your bid, how likely your ad is to produce a lead and the quality of your profile. That includes how responsive you are to calls and messages, the search and the customer’s location, your rating and number of reviews, your response time, your photos and the verification checks you passed. Serious or repeated complaints can lower your ranking.

Do I need reviews or a website?

You need a public, verified Google Business Profile, and its reviews are the ones your ad shows. Google recommends at least 5 reviews, and some business types need 5 before the ad can run. A website is not required to run Local Services Ads, but a fast one helps you win the customers who research before they call.

Is Google moving Local Services Ads into Google Ads?

Yes. From August 2026, Google is moving existing US Local Services Ads into Google Ads as Performance Max campaigns with pay-per-lead goals, starting with home and storefront services; more business types follow in late 2026 and 2027. The ads stay pay per lead and keep their place on Search and Maps. Weekly budgets become daily averages, manual bidding ends and historical reports do not transfer, so we export them before your account moves.

How long until I get leads?

Once you are verified, leads can start within days. Some categories can run limited ads while verification finishes, ranked below fully verified businesses. Google says bidding needs about two weeks to settle, so the first month is about tuning job types, budget and call handling before scaling up.

Do you work with businesses outside Charlotte?

Yes. Our office is in Charlotte and we run Local Services Ads for businesses across the Charlotte metro, the Carolinas and nationwide.
