RV, boat and powersports dealers

Powersports marketing that follows the season on every unit

Boats, RVs, ATVs and side-by-sides sell in different months, and Charlotte shoppers search each one on its own calendar. We plan search, unit ads, Facebook ads, your Google listing, email and your site around that calendar and your stock, and we count showroom visits, credit applications and units delivered.

  • 1,600Charlotte-area searches for "jet ski for sale" in June 2026, against 140 in November 2025
  • $0.09low end of the estimated click cost for "boats for sale" in Charlotte, against $0.83 for "rv for sale"
  • 880searches for "atv for sale" in November 2025 and January 2026, more than twice the 390 of summer
  • 2,400searches a month for "rv for sale" in the Charlotte area, never below 1,900 in any month

The short answer

What should powersports marketing do for an RV, boat or powersports dealer?

Powersports marketing has to move each kind of unit in its own buying season, reach shoppers who research for months before a big purchase, and keep owners coming back for service, storage and their next upgrade.

Most dealer accounts we audit run one budget all year across boats, RVs and off-road units. The search data says otherwise: watercraft searches in the Charlotte area climb from late winter to a June peak, ATV and side-by-side searches peak in the cold months, and RV searches stay steady all year. We split the account by unit type and season, and we feed stock to the channels that accept it: RVs, campers, ATVs and UTVs qualify for Google vehicle ads, while boats and motorcycles do not and need search and social unit ads instead. Financing offers run inside the Meta credit ad category. Then we measure units delivered, not form fills.

What RV, boat and powersports dealers need their marketing to solve.

A dealer selling recreation sells a want, not a need, and carries expensive floor plan stock through the off months. These are the pressures we plan around in RV, marine and powersports accounts.

  • Each unit has its own season

Boats and personal watercraft sell into summer, four-wheelers into fall and winter, campers through most of the year. One flat budget overspends in one line and starves another.

  • Floor plan cost through the off months

Unsold units carry interest every month. The marketing has to clear last year’s models before the new year arrives, without giving away margin.

  • Long research before a big purchase

A buyer may compare floor plans, hulls and trims for months. The dealer has to stay in front of that shopper from the first video to the showroom visit.

  • Shows and open houses drive the year

Winter boat and RV shows pull buyers out in January and February. Show leads need fast follow-up, or they buy from the dealer who called first.

  • Feeds that only fit some units

Google vehicle ads accept RVs, campers, ATVs and UTVs but not boats or motorcycles. The plan has to show every unit somewhere it is allowed.

  • Service, storage and trade-up

Winterizing, repairs, storage and the next bigger unit keep owners coming back. A dealer that markets only new sales leaves that revenue to the shop down the road.

What RV, boat and powersports buyers search before they visit.

Monthly searches and estimated click costs for the searches a Charlotte-area RV, marine or powersports dealer competes for. They split into watercraft, campers, off-road units and dealer searches, and each follows its own calendar.

Monthly searches in the Charlotte area

rv repair near me40,500$1.55 to $4.80
Watercraft and off-road units peak at opposite ends of the year
"Jet ski for sale" rose from 140 Charlotte-area searches in November 2025 to 1,600 in June 2026, and "pontoon boats for sale" from 320 to 1,300. "Atv for sale" ran the other way: 880 in November and January, 390 from June to September. A dealer selling both lines can shift one budget between them through the year.
Boat clicks cost a fraction of RV and off-road clicks
A click on "boats for sale" costs an estimated $0.09 to $1.05 in Charlotte and "pontoon boats for sale" $0.16 to $1.03, while "rv for sale" runs $0.83 to $1.86 and "side by side for sale" $0.92 to $2.01. Marine budgets reach more shoppers per dollar in spring; RV and off-road budgets need tighter targeting.
Shows are a winter spike, service is steady
"Rv show" reached 320 searches in January 2026 and "boat show" 320 in February, against 40 to 90 most other months. Service searches such as "rv repair near me" held at 390 to 480 every month, at a higher click cost than any sales search.

Our approach: it depends, and the data decides.

A lakeside boat dealer, an RV lot by the interstate and a multi-line powersports store need different plans. Four things decide where an RV, marine or powersports plan starts.

  • Your goals Clear aged units, fill the show calendar, grow service and storage, or sell more financed units. Each starts in a different campaign.
  • Your lines Boats, campers, off-road units and motorcycles each have their own season, click cost and feed options.
  • Your financing Lender programs, manufacturer rates and cash buyers change who we target, which ad rules apply and what a lead is worth.
  • Your competition National RV and marine chains, listing sites and the dealers on your lake or highway all bid for the same shoppers.

Data sets the budget by line and month, checks each channel against units delivered in the CRM, and shows when to move money from watercraft to off-road units, or from sales to service.

  • Marine dealer

Sell the summer before it starts

Budgets that build from February to a June peak, show follow-up in late winter, search and social unit ads for every boat, and winterizing and storage offers for owners in the fall.

  • RV and camper dealer

    Steady demand, long research

Vehicle ads from the feed for every unit, floor plan and model searches, video for shoppers comparing layouts, and service campaigns that run all year.

  • Multi-line powersports store

    One budget, two seasons

Watercraft weighted to spring and summer, ATVs and side-by-sides to fall and winter, and motorcycles to the March riding season, with parts and service in between.

If an RV, boat and powersports dealer came to us, here is how we would start.

This is the pitch we would give a real client, built for a fictional Charlotte-area dealer selling boats, campers and off-road units, using real Charlotte search data. The dealer, its phone number and its website are invented. Sample data shows the kind of results a campaign like this tracks; it is not a client result and not a promise.

How our specialists segment search demand by buyer intent

We would split the account by line, because each line has its own season and click cost: watercraft, RVs and campers, off-road units and dealer searches. Budget moves between the groups month by month as the search curves move.

Boats and watercraft

The cheapest clicks in the account. Budget builds from February to a June peak, and each group lands on the matching boats in stock.

RVs and campers

Steady demand all year. Search runs alongside vehicle ads from the feed, and landing pages sort units by type and floor plan.

travel trailers for sale320$0.75 to $2.45

ATVs, side-by-sides and dirt bikes

How our negative keyword governance protects the budget

  • Rentals and peer-to-peer rental sites
  • Listing site and national chain names
  • Toys, games and models
  • Parts-only and salvage searches
  • Campgrounds and RV parks
  • Jobs at dealerships

Recreation searches pull in renters, campground seekers, toy shoppers and people looking for a listing site by name. "Rvs for rent" alone draws 2,900 Charlotte-area searches a month. Our specialists load these exclusions before launch and read the search terms every week.

The Google listing, the map and the unit feed

Buyers choosing between dealers read the map, the photos and the latest reviews before they drive out. The listing would carry showroom and service hours, photos of real units on the lot and on the water, and replies to every review. The feed is split by what each channel accepts: RVs, campers, ATVs and UTVs run as Google vehicle ads with photo, price and mileage, while boats and motorcycles run as search and Facebook unit ads. Financing offers stay in their own campaigns, built in the credit ad category.

Powersports marketing in Charlotte, between the lakes and the mountains.

We are based in Charlotte, where Lake Norman, Lake Wylie and the Catawba River chain put boat owners on every side of the city, and the mountains to the west draw campers and off-road riders. We plan dealer campaigns around how far your buyers travel for the right unit, from lakeside towns to the farm country around the city. We also work with RV, marine and powersports dealers nationwide, with each plan built on that market’s own seasons and search demand.

Six profit leaks we fix in RV, boat and powersports accounts.

When we take over dealer accounts in this trade, these are the places we most often find budget leaking away from delivered units, and what we change first.

  1. One flat budget for every line

Watercraft and off-road units peak at opposite ends of the year. We set budgets by line and month, so spend follows each curve instead of averaging them out.

  2. Boats left out of unit ads

Google vehicle ads do not accept boats or motorcycles, so many dealers show those units nowhere but their own site. We run them as search and Facebook unit ads instead.

  3. Rental clicks paying for sales ads

Rental searches for RVs and campers outnumber many sales searches in Charlotte. We exclude them before launch and read the search terms every week.

  4. Show leads left for a week

Show leads go cold fast and buy from whoever calls first. We route them into the CRM the same day with their own source, so follow-up happens while the show is still fresh.

  5. Financing ads outside the credit rules

Payment offers run as ordinary ads with age or ZIP code targeting get rejected or limited. We build them in the credit ad category from the start.

  6. No contact after delivery

Many dealers never market to an owner again. We set service, winterizing, storage and trade-up emails from the delivery date, so owners come back for their next unit.

Questions RV, boat and powersports dealers ask us.

Can our boats run in Google vehicle ads?

No. Google vehicle ads accept RVs, campers, ATVs and UTVs, but not boats or motorcycles. We run those units as search ads and Facebook unit ads from your stock list, so every unit still shows with its photo and price.

Should we stop advertising boats in the winter?

Not entirely. Watercraft searches are lowest in October to December, but they start climbing in February, around show season. We cut boat budgets in the dead months and build them back from late winter, so you are in front of buyers before spring.

Can you advertise financing and monthly payments?

Yes, inside the rules. Credit ads on Meta run in the special ad category for financial products, and Google limits how credit ads can be targeted in the US. Any ad that states a payment or down payment carries the full credit terms.

Is it worth following up show leads with ads?

Yes. Show leads are warm but go cold within days. Same-day calls, a follow-up email and ads shown to the show list keep the dealer in front of them until they buy.

How fast do leads and sales start?

Search and unit ads usually bring calls and test ride requests in the first weeks of the season. Cost per delivered unit settles over the first few months, once enough deals come back from the CRM to match against clicks.

Do you work with dealers outside Charlotte?

Yes. We are based in Charlotte and work with RV, marine and powersports dealers across the US. The method is the same; the seasons, lines and click costs change with each market.
