Towing
Towing marketing that rings the dispatch phone at 2 AM
Charlotte-area drivers search for a tow truck nearby about 4,400 times a month, and almost every one of them wants a phone number, not a form. Winter adds a second wave of jump starts, lockouts and roadside calls. We plan search ads, your Google listing, social ads, email and your site so each channel is judged by dispatched calls, not clicks.
- 4,400searches a month for "tow truck near me" in the Charlotte area
- 3,600searches a month for "towing near me", on top of that
- 2.4xmore "jump start car" searches from October 2025 to January 2026 than in July 2026, Charlotte area
- $4.79 to $17.52estimated cost of one click on "semi truck towing near me" in Charlotte
The short answer
What does towing marketing have to get right?
Towing marketing has to put a phone number in front of a stranded driver within seconds, then prove which calls became dispatched trucks.
Most towing accounts we review run one campaign for everything, send clicks to a home page and count every ring as a lead. The searches say towing is several markets at once. In the Charlotte area, "tow truck near me" draws 4,400 searches a month and "towing near me" 3,600, with clicks from $2.10. "Jump start car" climbs to 2,400 a month from October to January, but many of those drivers want cables, not a truck. "Semi truck towing near me" is searched about 70 times a month at up to $17.52 a click. We plan towing ads, the Google listing, SEO for towing companies, social ads and account emails as one system, measured in dispatched jobs.
Our towing company advertising specialists split light duty, roadside and heavy recovery, so a one-truck operator and a heavy wrecker fleet each pay only for the calls they can run.
What tow operators need their marketing to solve.
These are the pressures we see in towing ad accounts and dispatch logs. They are why a towing plan looks nothing like a repair shop or a detailing plan.
-
Calls answered at any hour
A stranded driver calls the first number that looks open. Ads, the listing and the site have to show 24-hour service only when someone really picks up.
-
A service area drawn around the trucks
A call from forty minutes away loses money and the customer. Ad radius and listing area follow where trucks sit and how fast they arrive.
-
Cash calls beside motor club work
Club and insurer dispatches pay a set rate; retail calls pay more. Advertising should buy the cash calls the rotation does not send.
-
Heavy recovery sold apart
A semi or bus recovery is worth many light-duty tows and is searched by fleet managers and drivers on the road, not by commuters.
-
Trust in a stressful moment
Drivers fear price surprises and slow arrivals. Reviews that mention response time and fair quotes decide who gets the call.
-
Accounts that call again
Body shops, dealers, fleets and property managers send steady work. They are won with relationships and follow-up, not with a single search.
What drivers search when the car will not move.
Monthly searches and estimated click costs for the searches a tow operator competes for. Volume alone hides who is calling for a truck and who is shopping for a cable, so the notes below read the curve and the click price.
| Search | US / mo | Est. click cost, Charlotte |
|---|---|---|
| tow truck near me | 368,000 | $2.26 to $7.43 |
| towing near me | 246,000 | $2.10 to $6.97 |
| towing company near me | 201,000 | $2.14 to $7.40 |
| roadside assistance | 201,000 | $2.92 to $7.44 |
| jump start car | 135,000 | $0.03 to $4.50 |
| towing service near me | 90,500 | $2.31 to $7.28 |
| roadside assistance near me | 49,500 | $2.99 to $7.38 |
| towing charlotte nc | 880 | $2.30 to $9.39 |
| cheap towing near me | 33,100 | $1.64 to $8.68 |
| semi truck towing near me | 9,900 | $4.79 to $17.52 |
- Tows are steady; roadside calls follow the cold
- In the Charlotte area, "tow truck near me" held between 4,400 and 5,400 searches in every month from October 2025 to September 2026. Roadside work did not: "jump start car" ran at 2,400 from October to January and fell to 1,000 in July 2026, "roadside assistance" peaked at 4,400 in December 2025 against 1,600 in June, July and September, and "locked out of car" hit 590 in February 2026 after 70 in April and May. Roadside budgets belong in late fall and winter.
- A cheap click is not always a cheap call
- An estimated "jump start car" click starts at $0.03, because many searchers want cables or a portable starter, not a truck. "Tow truck near me" runs $2.26 to $7.43, "towing charlotte nc" up to $9.39 and "semi truck towing near me" $4.79 to $17.52. Each tier needs its own budget and its own call tracking, or the cheap searches fill the log with calls that never dispatch.
- Club and insurer names are a different search
- "Aaa roadside assistance" drew about 3,600 Charlotte-area searches a month, more than "towing company near me". Drivers who type a motor club or insurer name want that company, which then dispatches its own network. We keep those names out of the ads and treat club work as a relationship, not a keyword.

Our approach: it depends, and the data decides.
A one-truck operator, a light-duty fleet on motor club rotation and a heavy wrecker company need different plans. Four things decide where a towing plan starts.
- Your goals More cash calls, a fuller night shift, new body shop and fleet accounts, or more heavy recovery. Each starts in a different channel.
- Your coverage How many trucks run at night and where they sit. The plan only promises the hours and arrival times dispatch can keep.
- What each call is worth Retail tow, roadside job, motor club dispatch or heavy recovery. Their value decides what a dispatched call can cost to win.
- Your competition Club networks, other operators and lead resellers all bid on the same searches. Who answers around your yard shapes where we compete.
Data sets the budget by job type, hour and season, checks each channel against dispatched calls, and shows when to move money from tows into winter roadside work.
One or two trucks
Own the nearby calls
A Google listing that shows real hours, call ads in a tight radius around the yard, and a one-tap call page with the service area up front.
Light-duty fleet
Fill every shift
Separate campaigns for tows and roadside help, bids by hour and day, and call tracking that splits retail calls from club dispatches.
Heavy recovery
Win the big jobs
Heavy-duty search on highway corridors, outreach to fleets, carriers and body shops, and pages that show equipment and response coverage.
If a tow company came to us, here is how we would start.
This is the pitch we would give a real client, built for a fictional Charlotte tow company with real search data. The company, its phone number and its website are invented. Sample data shows the kind of results a campaign like this tracks; it is not a client result and not a promise.

How our specialists segment search demand by buyer intent
We would split the account by the job the driver needs, because each group has its own season, hour pattern and click price. Budget then moves between groups instead of sitting in one pot.

How our negative keyword governance protects the budget
- Motor club and insurer names
- Jumper cables, portable starters and tow straps for sale
- Tow truck driver jobs and CDL training
- Tow trucks and wreckers for sale
- Impound lot and towed car lookups
- Competitor company names
Towing searches pull in club members looking for their own provider, shoppers buying cables and starters, job seekers, truck buyers and owners hunting for a towed car. Our specialists load these exclusions before launch and review the search terms every week, so the budget stays on drivers who need a truck now.
How we write and test the Google search ads
Each intent group gets message-matched ad copy engineered by our specialists to qualify buyers before the click and lift expected click-through rate.

The Google listing and the map
Most "tow truck near me" searches end on the map, where the listings show hours, distance and a call button. The listing would carry each job by name, 24-hour hours only if the phones are staffed, the service area around the yard, photos of the real trucks and a reply to every review. Towing is on Google’s list of Local Services Ads categories, but Google notes the verified badge is currently unavailable for auto categories, so we would test those pay-per-lead ads against call ads on cost per dispatched job.
The Facebook ad
Towing is bought in a hurry, so social cannot sell the tow itself. It plants the name with local drivers before winter and storm season, and reaches fleet and property managers who sign accounts.
The email
Accounts are where towing revenue repeats. A note to fleets, body shops and property managers before the winter rush turns one-off calls into standing work.
A winter plan for your vehicles
Dead batteries and lockouts climb from October through February. Add our dispatch line to every vehicle in your fleet, and we will bill the account monthly instead of per call. Reply with your vehicle count and we will set it up.
Set up a fleet accountThe landing page the ads send people to
A stranded driver reads three lines at most. The page puts the call button first, answers price and arrival time up front and shows the area served, so the click becomes a call instead of a back button.

What each piece turns into, and how they hand off
- Search finds the driver Tow, roadside or heavy.
- The call reaches dispatch Answered at any hour.
- The truck rolls Quote and arrival time first.
- Follow-up wins the account Reviews and fleet outreach.
How our team tracks calls, bookings and revenue
- Every call by group and hourTracked numbers per channel and keyword group, with call length, missed calls and the hour of day recorded.
- Dispatched jobs, not ringsEach call matched to a dispatched job or marked as a price check, a wrong number or a club referral.

Towing company advertising and marketing services, and which come first.
The four core services carry most towing plans. The others join when the company is ready for them; a one-truck operator and a heavy recovery fleet rarely need the same mix.

What has worked for automotive businesses.
No ad platform has yet published a result for a towing company that we can show. These are the closest: automotive businesses whose results the platforms published. They are those companies’ published results, not ours; each shows what a tow operator can take from it, from reaching the right local drivers to sending real sales back to the ad platforms.
Towing marketing in Charlotte, built around I-77, I-85 and winter mornings.
We are based in Charlotte, where I-77, I-85 and I-485 carry commuters and freight through the region every hour of the day, and where a cold morning fills the phone log with dead batteries. We plan towing campaigns around each yard’s real coverage, from uptown and South End to the suburbs and highway corridors a heavy wrecker can reach fast. We also work with tow operators nationwide; weather, traffic, competition and motor club coverage change by market, and the plan changes with them.
Six growth leaks we fix in towing ad accounts.
When we take over towing accounts, these are the places we most often find calls and dispatched jobs leaking, and what we change first.
Every ring counted as a lead
A price check, a wrong number and a dispatched tow are not equal. We record which calls sent a truck and send those values back to Google, so bidding stops chasing short calls.
Paying for cable and starter shoppers
Jump start searches start at a few cents because many searchers want a product. We exclude product searches and keep roadside bids on drivers who want a truck.
A flat roadside budget all year
Charlotte-area "jump start car" searches ran 2.4 times higher from October to January than in July 2026. We raise roadside budgets for the cold months and shift summer money to tows.
24 hours promised, voicemail at night
Ads that run all night into an unanswered phone waste the costliest hours. We match ad schedules to staffed hours and track missed calls by hour.
Bidding on club and insurer names
Those drivers want their own provider and rarely book. We exclude the names and treat motor club work as a separate relationship.
No follow-up with accounts
Body shops, dealers, fleets and property managers send repeat work. We set account outreach before winter, so the slow months still have standing calls.
Questions tow company owners ask us.
How much should a towing company spend on advertising?
It depends on how many trucks run, the hours dispatch is staffed and what a retail call is worth next to club work. We start from the searches around your yard and their click costs by job type, split tows, roadside and heavy work, and adjust as dispatch data shows what each channel returns.
Do Google Ads work for towing?
Yes, when the ads are built for calls, the radius matches where trucks can arrive fast, and every call is matched to a dispatched job. Without that, product shoppers and price checks fill the log and the spend looks better than it is.
Should a tow company bid on motor club names?
Usually not. A driver who types a motor club or insurer name wants that company, which dispatches its own network. We exclude those names and keep the budget on drivers who are choosing a tow company themselves.
Do Facebook ads work for towing?
Not for the tow itself, because nobody scrolls social while stranded. They work to plant the name before winter and storm season and to reach fleet and property managers who sign accounts.
Do you work with tow operators outside Charlotte?
Yes. We are based in Charlotte and work with tow operators across the US. The method is the same; weather, traffic, competition, click costs and motor club coverage change with each market.
What do you measure besides clicks?
Calls by hour, missed calls, dispatched tows, roadside jobs, heavy recoveries and cost per dispatched job by channel, plus new accounts. A ring count alone cannot tell a price check from a truck on the road.
