Hearing and audiology
Audiology marketing for practices that sell a decision, not a click
Many people put off a hearing test long after they notice a problem, and a family member is often the one who searches. We plan your search ads, Local Services Ads, Google listings, social ads and email around that long decision, so hearing evaluations, device trials and implant consults reach the right audiologist, inside healthcare ad policy and privacy limits.
- 1,900"hearing aids" searches a month in the Charlotte area, on average across the year
- 480 to 1,600"hearing aids for tinnitus" searches in the Charlotte area, October 2025 against December to February
- $6.12low end of the estimated Charlotte click cost for "hearing test near me", against $1.69 for "hearing aids"
- 880"cochlear implant" searches a month in the Charlotte area, steady in every month of the year
The short answer
What makes audiology marketing different from other healthcare marketing?
Audiology marketing turns a slow, often postponed decision into a booked hearing evaluation: the patient researches devices for months, a spouse or adult child frequently starts the search, and the visit that matters most, the test, carries the highest click cost in the trade.
The broad device searches are plentiful and cheap; "hearing aids" alone draws 1,900 Charlotte searches a month from $1.69 a click. The searches closest to a booking cost far more, with "hearing test near me" starting at $6.12. Audiologist is one of the health categories that can run Local Services Ads, and hearing loss is a sensitive health topic for audience targeting, so ads follow searches and places, never people by condition. As an audiology marketing agency, we plan audiology ads, each office’s Google Business Profile, social ads, SEO and patient email as one system, and read results as kept evaluations and completed fittings.
Eye exams and eyewear follow the optometrist playbook; this page is for hearing care.
What hearing care practices need their marketing to solve.
These are the pressures we see in hearing care accounts, from a single audiologist’s office to a group with implant audiologists and several hearing aid centers. They are why an audiology plan is built differently from a clinic that books visits in a day.
-
A decision put off for years
Many patients notice the problem long before they book. Marketing has to stay in front of them through months of reading and comparing, then make the first appointment feel simple.
-
The family often searches first
A spouse or adult child books the test, joins the fitting and weighs the device. Pages, ads and calls have to speak to the person paying attention, not only the patient.
-
High-value devices, long trials
A fitting is followed by a trial period and adjustments. A booked test is not a sale; the numbers that matter are completed fittings and devices kept after the trial.
-
Retail chains and online sellers
National hearing aid chains, warehouse clubs and over the counter devices all compete for the same searches. A clinical practice wins on testing, fitting and follow-up care, not on price.
-
Benefits decide many visits
Hearing benefits arrive through health plans and benefit networks. A practice that is in network should say so on its pages and listings; one that is not should not pay for those clicks.
-
Privacy for older patients
Test results, device models and tinnitus are health details. Reviews, replies and tracking all need rules so no patient’s hearing reaches an ad platform or a public reply.
What people search when hearing becomes a problem, and when.
Monthly searches and estimated click costs for the searches a hearing care practice competes for. Most volume sits on device searches; the test and audiologist searches below them carry the booking intent and the higher prices.
| Search | US / mo | Est. click cost, Charlotte |
|---|---|---|
| hearing aids | 165,000 | $1.69 to $6.04 |
| cochlear implant | 90,500 | $1.16 to $5.36 |
| hearing aids for tinnitus | 74,000 | $1.12 to $5.47 |
| over the counter hearing aids | 40,500 | $1.22 to $4.38 |
| audiologist near me | 40,500 | $3.20 to $15.70 |
| hearing aids near me | 33,100 | $3.04 to $12.00 |

- Tinnitus is a winter search
- "Hearing aids for tinnitus" ran 480 Charlotte searches in October 2025, held at 1,600 from December to February, then fell to 260 by September 2026. Tinnitus pages, ads and budget belong in the winter months.
- The test costs more than the device
- "Hearing test near me" starts at $6.12 a click and "audiologist near me" at $3.20, against $1.69 for "hearing aids". The searches that book an evaluation are the expensive ones, so they get their own campaign, page and bid.
- Price shoppers peak in late fall
- "Affordable hearing aids" jumped to 590 searches in December 2025, against 30 in September 2026, and "over the counter hearing aids" peaked at 880 in November. "Rechargeable hearing aids" peaked at 480 in March. Device research moves with the calendar, and the plan moves with it.

Our approach: it depends, and the data decides.
An independent audiologist, a multi-office hearing aid practice and an ENT group with an implant program need different plans. Four things decide where an audiology plan starts.
- Your goals Fill a new audiologist’s schedule, grow device fittings, build a tinnitus or implant program, or open an office. Each starts with a different keyword group, page and listing.
- Your timeline Search ads and Local Services Ads book evaluations within weeks. Reviews, referral relationships with physicians and the pages that rank build over months, as do the long device decisions.
- Your budget Device clicks start near $1.69 and implant clicks near $1.16, while "hearing test near me" starts at $6.12. A smaller budget funds the test and audiologist searches first, then device research.
- Your competition National chains bid hard on their own names, at $13.90 a click and up in Charlotte, and online sellers flood device searches. An independent practice wins on who does the testing, the benefits it takes and how follow-up care works.
Data then steers the money: which office, which program and which month earn more, which search or listing started each fitting (with no hearing detail carried along), and which audiologist can take the next new patient.
Independent audiology practice
Win the test, then the fitting
A complete Google profile and Local Services Ads, a hearing test campaign shaped by the benefits the practice takes, and pages that explain testing, fitting and the trial period.
Multi-office hearing aid practice
Fund each office
A campaign and listing per office, device research funded in late fall and early spring, and repair and battery searches routed to the nearest office for existing wearers.
ENT group with an implant program
Reach candidates and referrers
A steady cochlear implant campaign all year, candidacy pages patients and families can read, and a referral path for physicians and audiologists who send cases.
If a hearing care practice came to us, here is how we would start.
Below is the plan we would bring to a hearing care owner, worked through for an invented Charlotte practice using live Charlotte search numbers. The practice name, phone and website are fictional. Every result figure is sample data showing what a plan like this measures, not a client outcome and not a promise.

How our specialists segment search demand by buyer intent
We would split the account by what the searcher is ready to do, because each stage has its own click cost, season and page. Budget goes first to the searches that book an evaluation, then follows device research through the year.
Hearing tests and audiologists
People ready to book. Funded first and run all year, shaped by the benefits the practice takes, with the call button and online booking one tap away.
| Search | Charlotte area / mo | Est. click cost |

| hearing test near me | 110 | $6.12 to $27.98 |
| hearing aid specialist | 70 | $3.20 to $13.00 |
| free hearing test | 30 | $2.34 to $7.58 |
Hearing aids
People researching devices, often for months. Sent to a page about testing, fitting and the trial period rather than a product grid, and weighted toward late fall and March.
| Search | Charlotte area / mo | Est. click cost |
|---|---|---|
| hearing aids | 1,900 | $1.69 to $6.04 |

| rechargeable hearing aids | 210 | $0.96 to $4.71 |
| hearing aid prices | 170 | $0.78 to $2.41 |
Tinnitus and implants
Patients with a specific need and a longer path. Tinnitus is funded hardest from December to February; implant candidacy runs evenly all year with its own audiologist page.

People who already wear a device and need help now. Cheap clicks that bring in patients other offices fitted, many of whom are due for a new test.
| Search | Charlotte area / mo | Est. click cost |
|---|---|---|
| hearing aid repair | 70 | $0.43 to $8.86 |
| hearing aid repair near me | 50 | $2.60 to $13.89 |
How our negative keyword governance protects the budget
- National chain and warehouse club names
- Over the counter and online-only device searches
- Jobs, audiology school and hearing aid licensing
- Headphones, earbuds and sound amplifier products
- Sign language and deaf education services
- Benefit plans the practice does not accept
Hearing searches pull in shoppers comparing retail chains and mail-order devices, people looking for earbuds, students and job seekers, and patients whose benefits the practice cannot take. These exclusions go in before the first ad runs, and the search terms report is read weekly so money keeps flowing to people looking for a clinical evaluation.

Local Services Ads and the map
Google lists audiologist among the health categories eligible for Local Services Ads: a paid listing above the search ads, billed when a patient calls or messages instead of when someone clicks. Each audiologist clears Google’s license and background screening before the Google Verified badge appears. Our specialists would list testing, fittings, repairs and tinnitus care, the evening hours and the benefit networks accepted, then challenge any lead that was a sales call or a wrong number. For an older patient the map listing often settles the choice: parking, a step-free entrance, evening slots and the name of the audiologist. Review replies stay warm and general, with nothing about anyone’s hearing.
The Facebook ad
Hearing decisions take months, so a Facebook presence keeps the practice familiar to nearby families while they think it over, with spend rising in late fall and winter as hearing searches do. Meta treats hearing loss as sensitive, so the copy is about gatherings and the visit, and the audience is set by area rather than any health interest.
The email
Only past patients who opted in receive it, from the practice’s own email platform, and it mentions a routine check rather than any result or device. A yearly check brings existing patients back before another practice or an online seller reaches them, and shows when a fitting is due.
It has been a year since your last visit.
A yearly hearing check lets your audiologist compare this year’s results with last year’s and adjust anything that has changed. Winter appointments fill early, so book now to keep the day and the audiologist that suit you.
Book my hearing checkThe landing page the ads send people to
A hearing care patient, or the family member booking for them, wants to know who will do the test, whether their benefits apply and what happens after the test. The page answers those first, in large type with the phone number up top, and keeps the form to a name, a phone number and a preferred day, leaving every hearing detail for the visit.

What each piece turns into, and how they hand off
- Search and LSA catch the patient Tests, devices, tinnitus and repairs.
- An evaluation with an audiologist Family welcome, results explained.
- A review request after the fitting Fresh reviews that never mention hearing.
- Email brings patients back yearly Hearing checks timed before winter.
How our team tracks calls, bookings and revenue
- Calls, bookings and LSA leadsEvery call, web booking and Local Services Ads lead is logged per office and program as a bare event; test results, device models and form answers never travel with it.
- Kept evaluations and fittingsThe practice software reports finished evaluations and fittings as totals by source; any upload back to Google waits for the practice’s own privacy sign-off.
- Trials kept, not just startedDevices still worn after the trial period, counted in aggregate by source, so budget follows the searches that become satisfied patients.
- A monthly report by service lineSpend, calls, bookings and cost per kept evaluation for testing, devices, tinnitus and implants, and repairs, reported apart.

Audiology digital marketing services, and which come first.
The four core services carry most hearing care plans. The others join as the practice adds offices, audiologists and programs; a single office and an implant program rarely need the same mix.

What has worked for hearing care and health organizations.
Three health organizations whose results were published by the email and ad platforms they used: a home care provider, a patient advocacy service and a healthcare training school. The numbers belong to them and their platforms, not to us; we note what a hearing care practice can borrow from each.
Audiology marketing in Charlotte, office by office.
We are based in Charlotte, where ENT groups, national hearing aid chains, warehouse clubs and independent audiologists compete for the same 1,900 monthly "hearing aids" searches. We plan each office on its own radius, the benefits it accepts and its audiologists’ open time, fund tinnitus from December to February and device research in late fall and March, and keep chain-name bidding out of the budget. We also work with hearing care practices nationwide; the searches, the retirement communities, the benefits and the competition change by market, and the plan changes with them.
Six growth leaks we fix in audiology ad accounts.
Taking over a hearing care account, our specialists usually find the same six leaks. Here is each one and the first change we make.
Device clicks hiding the test cost
One campaign lets cheap "hearing aids" clicks average out what a hearing test search really costs. We split testing, devices, tinnitus and implants, and repairs, each with its own budget and page.
Bidding on chain names
The largest national chain’s name starts at $13.90 a click in Charlotte. We keep competitor names in the negatives and spend that budget on test and audiologist searches instead.
Tinnitus spend flat all year
"Hearing aids for tinnitus" ran from 480 searches in October to 1,600 a month in winter and 260 by September. We weight tinnitus budgets and pages into December to February.
Counting tests, not fittings
A booked test is the start of a long decision. We report completed fittings and devices kept after the trial by source, so budget follows what becomes a satisfied patient.
Pages written only for the patient
Adult children and spouses often search and book. We write pages, ads and call scripts that answer the family’s questions too, and invite them to the visit.
Reviews and tracking that reveal hearing
A reply that mentions a patient’s hearing loss or a tracking event that carries a test result exposes care they never agreed to share. We set a reply standard and keep hearing details out of every event.
Questions hearing care practices ask us.
How much should an audiology practice spend on advertising?
It depends on how many audiologists and offices you have, how soon a new patient can be seen and which programs you want to grow. In Charlotte "hearing aids" clicks start around $1.69 and "hearing test near me" at $6.12, so we fund the test searches first, then device research by season, and adjust as fitting data comes in.
When do people search for hearing care?
All year for tests and devices, with seasons below. In the Charlotte area "hearing aids for tinnitus" rose from 480 searches in October 2025 to 1,600 a month from December to February, and "affordable hearing aids" peaked at 590 in December.
Can audiologists run Local Services Ads?
Yes. Google includes audiologists among its US health categories for Local Services Ads. Every audiologist on the listing clears license and background screening, and the practice pays for each patient call or message, not for clicks.
Can we target ads to people with hearing loss?
No. Hearing loss counts as a sensitive health category on both Google and Meta, so no audience may be built around it and no ad may suggest a viewer hears poorly. Our plans reach people through what they search and where they live, with copy about the visit and the audiologist.
How do we compete with over the counter hearing aids?
By not competing on price. "Over the counter hearing aids" drew 480 Charlotte searches a month and peaked at 880 in November. We keep online-only device searches in the negatives and speak to the people who want testing, fitting and follow-up care, which a box cannot give them.
Do you work with hearing care practices outside Charlotte?
Yes. Charlotte is home, and hearing care clients anywhere in the US get the same method. What shifts from market to market is the click price, the benefit networks, the share of retirees and who else is bidding.
