Motorsports and performance parts

Motorsports marketing that sells parts by the build

Enthusiasts shop part by part, for one car, and they know exactly what they want. We plan Shopping and search ads, fitment pages, social creative from real builds and email for the next stage, and we judge every channel by orders and the second order that follows.

  • 33,100US searches a month for "coilovers", against 1,000 for "racing parts"
  • $1.28low end of a US click on "performance shop near me", against $0.39 for "coilovers"
  • 14,800US searches a month for "truck lift kits" from January to April 2026, against 8,100 in July
  • 210Charlotte-area searches a month for "performance shop near me"

The short answer

What should motorsports marketing deliver?

Motorsports marketing should deliver orders from builders who name the part and the car, repeat orders as each build moves to its next stage, and install or tuning bookings for shops, at a cost each product line can carry.

Performance buyers rarely search for a category. They search the part, the brand and the car it has to fit, and they leave the moment a page cannot confirm fitment. In the parts accounts we audit, the catalog sits in one Shopping campaign with one bid, the product pages skip the vehicles each part fits, and nobody follows up when a customer who bought springs is ready for an exhaust. We plan Shopping ads by product line, SEO for the part and vehicle pages, and email that follows each build. Results are read as orders, margin and repeat customers, not clicks.

What performance parts companies need their marketing to solve.

These are the pressures we see in performance parts makers, online parts stores, race shops and tuning and install shops. They are why a parts plan is built differently from a distributor’s or a repair shop’s.

  • Fitment before anything else

A buyer who cannot confirm the part fits their year, make and model does not order. Every ad and product page has to answer that before price or features.

  • Thousands of parts, one budget

A catalog of coilovers, exhausts, intakes and lift kits cannot share one bid. Each line has its own margin, its own buyer and its own season.

  • A build is a series of orders

Springs come first, then wheels, exhaust and a tune. A customer who finished stage one is the cheapest next order in the business.

  • Builders trust other builders

Enthusiasts believe a finished car at a meet or a dyno sheet from a real build long before they believe an ad. Proof has to come from the community.

  • Brand names do the searching

Many buyers type the maker’s name and the part. A brand’s own name has to be defended, and a store has to carry the brands its buyers ask for.

  • Parts ship anywhere, installs do not

A part can sell in every state, but a shop that installs and tunes it works within driving distance. The two sides need different campaigns.

What performance buyers search, and when.

Performance parts ship across the country, so these are US monthly searches and estimated click costs for the searches a parts maker, store or speed shop competes for. The averages hide who is searching and when, so the notes below read the words and the monthly curve.

Monthly searches in the United States
  • coilovers 33,100
  • lift kit 18,100
  • cat back exhaust 14,800
  • performance shop near me 12,100

  • truck lift kits 12,100
  • ls swap 9,900
  • racing seats 8,100
  • ecu tune 8,100
  • turbo kit 5,400

Buyers search the maker’s name more than the part
One exhaust maker’s name with "exhaust system" averaged 33,100 US searches a month, more than twice the 14,800 for "cat back exhaust", at a low-end click of $0.24. A coilover maker’s name reached 14,800. For a parts brand, its own name is the biggest search it owns; for a store, brand and part pages are where the orders start.
The install costs more than the part
"performance shop near me" starts at $1.28 a click in the US and $1.35 in the Charlotte area, against $0.39 for "coilovers" and $0.23 for "cat back exhaust". A shop that installs and tunes bids against every speed shop nearby; a parts store mostly competes on its feed and its price.
Builds start in late winter and spring
"truck lift kits" held at 14,800 US searches a month from January to April 2026 and fell to 8,100 in July and September. "coilovers" peaked at 40,500 in March and April 2026, against 33,100 in most months, and "performance shop near me" reached 14,800 in the same two months.

Our approach: it depends, and the data decides.

A parts brand with dealers, an online store carrying hundreds of brands and a speed shop that installs and tunes need different plans. Four things decide where a performance parts plan starts.

  • Your goals More direct orders, more dealers stocking your line, a new platform such as truck suspension, or more install and tuning bookings. Each one changes the channel mix and the offer.
  • Your timeline Shopping and search ads bring orders within weeks. Part and vehicle pages that rank on their own take months, and keep selling for years.
  • Your margins by line House-brand parts, resold brands and installed work each carry a different margin. Budgets and bids follow the margin of each line, not the size of the catalog.
  • Your reach Parts ship nationwide; installs, tunes and race prep happen where the customer can drive. The plan sets a national campaign for one and a local campaign for the other.

Data sets the budget by product line and month, ties every order to the search, ad or email that started it, and shows which parts bring customers who come back for the next stage.

  • Performance parts brand

Builders nationwide and the shops that stock you

Search ads that defend your brand name, Shopping on your own store, YouTube and Instagram from real builds, and dealer pages that send buyers to a stocking shop.

  • Online parts store

Enthusiasts shopping by car and by brand

Shopping campaigns split by margin and product line, fitment pages for the platforms you sell most, and email that offers the next part for the same car.

  • Speed, tuning and install shop

    Builders within driving distance

Local search ads for installs, dyno tuning and race prep, a Google Business Profile with real builds, and social ads around local meets and track days.

If a performance parts company came to us, here is how we would start.

This is the plan we would pitch to a real client, built for a fictional Mooresville performance parts maker and install shop with real US search data. The company, its phone number and its website are invented. Sample data shows the kind of results a campaign like this tracks; it is not a client result and not a promise.

How our specialists segment search demand by buyer intent

We would split the account by what the buyer is doing: buying a part to install themselves, or booking the shop to install and tune it. Each group gets its own budget and a landing page that answers fitment first.

Suspension and lift

The house-brand line with the best margin, sold nationwide. Budget rises from January, when truck owners plan spring lifts and car builders order suspension.

SearchUS / moEst. click cost
coilovers33,100$0.39 to $1.91
lift kit18,100$0.32 to $2.54
leveling kit12,100$0.44 to $1.88
truck lift kits12,100$0.29 to $2.11
lowering springs4,400$0.23 to $0.98

Exhaust, intake and turbo

The parts builders add next. Lower click costs and steady demand all year, so this group carries the repeat orders that follow a suspension sale.

SearchUS / moEst. click cost
cat back exhaust14,800$0.23 to $1.34
performance exhaust8,100$0.29 to $1.61
air intake8,100$0.39 to $1.81
turbo kit5,400$0.26 to $1.07

Installs, tuning and dyno

Aimed only at drivers within reach of the Mooresville shop. The costliest clicks in the account, judged by booked installs and tunes, not by calls.

SearchUS / moEst. click cost
performance shop near me12,100$1.28 to $6.34
ecu tune8,100$0.44 to $2.04

How our negative keyword governance protects the budget

  • Used, junkyard and salvage parts
  • Stock replacement and repair parts
  • Video games, toys and scale models
  • Golf cart and mower lift kits
  • Jobs at shops and race teams
  • Brands and platforms Torquewell does not carry

Parts searches are full of drivers looking for a used part, a stock replacement, a toy car or a golf cart lift. Our specialists build the negative keyword lists before launch and review search terms every week, so the budget reaches builders ready to order.

How we write and test the Google search ads

Each intent group gets message-matched ad copy engineered by our specialists to qualify buyers before the click and lift expected click-through rate.

The Instagram ad

Builders decide with their eyes and trust other builds. These ads show real customer cars before and after, reach owners of the platforms the catalog fits, and retarget visitors who checked fitment but did not order.

The email

The second order is the cheapest one to win. Each email follows the customer’s own car and order history, so it offers parts that fit, timed to the stage builders usually reach next.

Motorsports marketing in Charlotte, and for builders across the country.

We are based in Charlotte, close to Mooresville and Concord, where many race teams, fabricators and their parts suppliers work. For a speed shop we plan campaigns around the drive its customers will make for an install or a tune, and for a parts brand or store we plan for builders nationwide. We work with performance parts companies across the country, from single-bay tuning shops to brands that sell entirely online.

Six growth leaks we fix in performance parts ad accounts.

When we take over performance parts accounts, these are the places we most often find orders and repeat customers leaking, and what we change first.

  1. One Shopping campaign for the whole catalog

A single bid treats a high-margin house-brand kit like a resold filter. We split Shopping by product line and margin, so budget follows the parts that pay.

  2. Product pages without fitment

Buyers search by vehicle: "f150 leveling kit" alone draws 5,400 US searches a month. We put the vehicles each part fits in the feed titles and on the page.

  3. Install and parts buyers in one campaign

A click on "performance shop near me" costs about three times one on "coilovers". We run the shop on its own local campaign and judge it by booked installs.

  4. Spring budgets that start in May

Lift kit and coilover searches peak from January to April. We raise budgets in late winter, while builders are still choosing parts.

  5. Leaving the brand name to resellers

Many buyers search the maker’s name. We defend the brand’s own name with search ads and a store page that outranks the listings of others.

  6. No follow-up after the first part

A customer with new suspension is shopping for the next stage. We time email to each car and order, offering parts that fit what they already bought.

Questions performance parts companies ask us.

What should a performance parts company spend on ads?

It depends on your product lines, their margins and what a customer buys over a build. We start from the searches for each line and their click costs, set a budget that follows the build season, and adjust it as order and margin data show what each line returns.

Do Shopping ads work for parts that need fitment?

Yes, when the feed carries it. Part numbers and the vehicles each part fits in the product titles bring buyers who already know the part fits, and fitment on the page closes the order.

Can one plan cover our online store and our install shop?

Yes, as two campaigns in one account. Parts are sold nationwide and judged by orders; installs and tunes are sold locally and judged by bookings, each with its own budget.

Is SEO worth it for a parts catalog?

Yes. Buyers who search a part for their exact car are close to ordering, and a page that names the part and the vehicle answers them first. Those pages build over months and lower the cost of every order after.

Do you work with performance parts companies outside Charlotte?

Yes. We are based in Charlotte and work with performance parts companies nationwide. The method is the same everywhere; the catalog, the platforms and the buyers change.

What do you measure besides clicks and sales?

Margin by product line, install and tuning bookings, and repeat orders by vehicle. Revenue alone cannot tell a low-margin resold part from a house-brand kit, so margin is part of the reporting.
