Logistics and warehousing

Logistics marketing that fills pallet positions with signed contracts

A 3PL sells space, labor and accuracy to brands and manufacturers that could be anywhere in the country. We plan search ads, service pages, LinkedIn and account email around the services you run and the capacity you have open, and we judge them by contracts signed and volume onboarded, not by form fills.

  • $7.89low end of a US click on "3pl", against $2.53 for "cross docking" and $0.87 for "warehousing"
  • 14,800US searches for "3pl companies" in July 2026, against 4,400 to 5,400 from February to May
  • 720Charlotte-area searches for "third party logistics" in July 2026, against 140 to 210 in most months
  • 10Charlotte-area searches a month for "3pl near me": a Charlotte warehouse finds its clients elsewhere

The short answer

What should logistics marketing deliver?

Logistics marketing should deliver signed warehousing and fulfillment contracts that fill the space and labor you have open, from shippers whose volume, products and systems fit your operation.

Warehouse searches are crowded with job seekers, parcel trackers and people looking for a building to lease. In the 3PL accounts we audit, those clicks share one campaign with brands and manufacturers choosing a partner, and the quote form asks for a name and an email, so sales spends its week on inquiries that will never move a pallet in. We plan search ads by service line, SEO for the services and certifications you hold, LinkedIn ads by supply chain title and account email around open capacity. Results are read as qualified quotes, contracts signed and volume onboarded.

What logistics and warehousing companies need their marketing to solve.

These are the pressures we see in 3PLs, ecommerce fulfillment centers, contract warehouses and cross-dock operators. They are why a warehouse plan is built differently from a carrier’s or a distributor’s.

  • Empty space earns nothing

Rent, racking and staff cost the same whether the pallet positions are full or not. Marketing has to match new clients to the space and the shifts you actually have open.

  • Fit before the first call

Order volume, pallet count, SKU count, temperature and hazmat decide whether a shipper fits. A quote form that skips them sends sales to accounts the building cannot take.

  • Buyers switch before peak, not during it

No brand moves its inventory in November. The choice of a new 3PL is made in the summer, so the selling season ends months before the shipping season starts.

  • Clients who never visit the building

An ecommerce brand in Ohio may pick a Charlotte warehouse for its reach to the East Coast. The website, not the dock, has to show the operation.

  • Committees, not single buyers

Operations, finance and often IT sign off on a 3PL. Each one asks different questions, and the deal stalls if any of them is left out.

  • Contracts that last for years

Onboarding a client is expensive for both sides, so a good fit stays. One signed account can fill a section of racking long after the campaign that found it.

What shippers search when they look for a warehouse, and when.

A 3PL can serve brands from any state, so these are US monthly searches and estimated click costs for the searches a contract warehouse and fulfillment company competes for. The averages hide who is searching and when, so the notes below read the words and the monthly curve.

Brands shop for a 3PL in the summer
"3pl companies" sat at 4,400 to 5,400 US searches a month from February to May 2026, then rose to 9,900 in June and 14,800 in July. "third party logistics" reached 40,500 in July 2026, against 14,800 in most months. In the Charlotte area it went from 140 to 210 a month to 720 in July and 480 in August.
December spikes are not buyers
"fulfillment center" jumped to 33,100 US searches in December 2025, against 9,900 in most months, and "ecommerce fulfillment" to 22,200, against about 1,000. December is the month a brand is least able to move its inventory. We read those spikes as holiday shoppers and seasonal workers, and keep the contract budget for the summer, when switching is planned.
The cheap warehouse words belong to someone else
"warehousing" draws 246,000 US searches a month at a low-end click of $0.87, mostly job seekers and people looking for a building. In the Charlotte area, one discount retailer’s distribution center is searched about 1,000 times a month by name, more than "third party logistics", "3pl", "3pl companies" and "3pl warehouse" together. The buyer words cost $7 to $10 a click at the low end, and they are the ones worth bidding on.

Our approach: it depends, and the data decides.

An ecommerce fulfillment center, a contract warehouse for manufacturers and a cross-dock or bonded operation need different plans. Four things decide where a logistics plan starts.

  • Your goals Fill a new building, replace a client that left, add ecommerce brands to a B2B operation, or sell a new service such as kitting or bonded storage. Each starts with a different campaign and a different page.
  • Your timeline Search ads bring quote requests within weeks, but a contract can take months from first call to the first pallet. Service pages that rank build over the same months and keep paying.
  • Your open capacity Pallet positions, square feet and shifts that are free right now, and when they free up next, set how hard the plan pushes and which services it sells first.
  • Your ideal client Order volume, SKU count, product type and the systems the client runs decide who the ads speak to and which questions the quote form asks.

Data sets the budget by service line and month, ties every quote request to the search, ad or email that started it, and shows which sources bring clients who sign and stay.

If a 3PL came to us, here is how we would start.

This is the plan we would pitch to a real client, built for a fictional Charlotte-based contract warehouse and fulfillment company with real US search data. The company, its phone number and its website are invented. Sample data shows the kind of results a campaign like this tracks; it is not a client result and not a promise.

How our specialists segment search demand by buyer intent

We would split the account by the service the shipper is buying, because each has its own buyer, its own click cost and its own onboarding. Each group gets its own budget and a landing page with a quote form built for that service.

3PL and contract warehousing

The most expensive clicks in the account and the closest to a contract. Budget rises from June, when brands and manufacturers plan their move before peak season.

SearchUS / moEst. click cost
third party logistics22,200$7.00 to $28.46

3pl companies8,100$7.00 to $32.50
3pl warehouse2,900$6.85 to $30.78
3pl services2,900$10.00 to $42.97

Ecommerce fulfillment

Online brands comparing fulfillment partners. The ads name order volumes and the store platforms the warehouse connects to, so brands too small to fit do not click.

SearchUS / moEst. click cost
ecommerce fulfillment2,900$5.26 to $24.00
fulfillment companies for ecommerce1,900$9.63 to $45.94
fulfillment services880$6.32 to $24.80

Warehousing, cross-dock and bonded

Manufacturers, distributors and importers with freight to store or transfer. Lower click costs, and bonded and cold storage searches with fewer warehouses competing for them.

How our negative keyword governance protects the budget

  • Warehouse jobs, hiring and shift searches
  • Retailer and parcel carrier distribution centers by name
  • Package tracking and delivery questions
  • Warehouse buildings for lease or sale
  • Pallet racking, forklifts and warehouse equipment
  • Self storage units for households

Warehouse searches are crowded with people who will never sign a contract: job seekers, shoppers tracking a parcel, tenants looking for a building and buyers shopping for racking, which alone draws 18,100 US searches a month. Our specialists add them as negative keywords before launch and review search terms every week, so the budget reaches shippers.

The Instagram ad

Ecommerce founders and operations leads spend their day on Instagram and see their own ads there. From June, when brands decide whether to switch, we show them the operation itself: the pick line, the packing stations and the dock, with the volumes it is built for.

The email

Current clients and shippers who asked for a quote before are the cheapest volume to win. Each send goes out when space actually opens, so sales offers capacity the building has, not capacity it hopes to have.

Logistics marketing from Charlotte, for warehouses everywhere.

We are based in Charlotte, where I-85 and I-77 meet and warehouses line the corridors toward Concord, Gastonia and the airport. A 3PL here rarely sells to shippers here: the brands and manufacturers it serves are spread across the country, so we plan the search and LinkedIn side nationally and build the pages around what the building offers them. We work with logistics and warehousing companies nationwide, from single-building fulfillment centers to multi-site 3PLs.

Six growth leaks we fix in 3PL and warehouse ad accounts.

When we take over logistics and warehousing accounts, these are the places we most often find contracts leaking, and what we change first.

  1. Bidding on "warehousing"

The biggest warehouse word is mostly job seekers and building hunters. We bid on the service a shipper buys, such as 3PL, fulfillment or cross-docking, and exclude the rest before launch.

  2. Spending the budget in December

Search volume spikes in December, but brands do not switch warehouses during peak. We move the contract budget to the summer, when the decision is made.

  3. A quote form that asks for nothing

Name and email tell sales nothing about fit. We ask for pallets, monthly orders, SKU count and product type first, so every call is with a shipper the building can take.

  4. One page for every service

Ecommerce fulfillment, contract storage and bonded warehousing are bought by different people. Each gets its own page and its own ad group.

  5. Counting quote requests instead of contracts

A request from a brand that ships ten orders a month counts the same as one that ships ten thousand. We send qualified quotes and signed contracts back to the platforms, so bidding finds the right shippers.

  6. Selling space you do not have

Campaigns that keep running when the building is full bring quotes sales has to turn away. We tie the budget and the email offers to the capacity that is actually open.

Questions logistics and warehousing companies ask us.

When should a 3PL spend the most on marketing?

It depends on your capacity and your clients, but the data points to the summer. US searches for "3pl companies" nearly tripled from May to July 2026, while December spikes come from shoppers and seasonal workers. We put the contract budget where the switching decisions are made.

Does 3PL marketing work for a single warehouse?

Yes, when it is narrow. A single building wins on the services it does well and the clients it fits, not on "logistics" across the country. We keep 3PL marketing for one building to its best service lines, its certifications and the volume it can take next.

Should a Charlotte warehouse advertise only in Charlotte?

Rarely. The Charlotte area makes about 10 searches a month for "3pl near me", while brands and manufacturers across the country search for a 3PL every day. We run the search side nationally and sell the location as a reason to choose you.

What does digital marketing for logistics companies measure?

Quote requests by service line, quotes that fit the building, contracts signed, pallets and orders onboarded, and how long each account stays. A form count alone cannot tell a ten-order brand from a ten-thousand-order one, so CRM data is part of the reporting.

Is warehouse marketing different for ecommerce and B2B clients?

Yes. Ecommerce brands compare fulfillment speed, store integrations and peak season capacity, and many of them are on Instagram. Manufacturers and distributors compare storage, cross-docking and freight handling, and are easier to reach on LinkedIn and search. Each gets its own campaigns and pages.

Do you work with logistics companies outside Charlotte?

Yes. We are based in Charlotte and work with 3PLs, fulfillment centers and contract warehouses nationwide. The method is the same everywhere; the services, the capacity and the clients change.
