Urgent care
Urgent care marketing for the hour a patient decides
An urgent care patient chooses a clinic in minutes, on a phone, often for a sick child. We plan your search ads, Google listings, social ads and email around that moment, around the winter illness peak and the flu shot and physical seasons, and inside the ad policy and privacy limits of healthcare.
- 60,500"urgent care near me" searches a month in the Charlotte area, on average across the year
- 90,500"urgent care near me" searches in December 2025, the highest month of the year
- 1,600 to 70"flu shot near me" searches in the Charlotte area, October 2025 against April 2026
- $2.00 to $7.51estimated cost of one click on "urgent care near me" in Charlotte
The short answer
What makes urgent care marketing different from other healthcare marketing?
Urgent care marketing wins a decision made in minutes: a patient, or a parent, searching "near me" on a phone, picking the closest open clinic with a short wait, on a calendar set by the illness season.
There is no research phase. Most searches name no service at all, only nearness and hours, so the clinic that shows up on the map, says it is open and makes check-in easy gets the visit. Urgent care is not one of the health categories that can run Local Services Ads, so search ads and the Google listing carry the plan. Health conditions are sensitive topics for audience targeting, so ads target places and searches, not people. We plan urgent care ads, every location’s Google Business Profile, social ads, urgent care SEO and patient email as one system, and read results as visits, not clicks.
As an urgent care marketing agency, we build urgent care marketing plans clinic by clinic, so each location’s budget follows its own hours, staffing and wait times.
What urgent care clinics need their marketing to solve.
These are the pressures we see in urgent care accounts, from a single walk-in clinic to a group with a dozen locations. They are why an urgent care plan looks different from a practice that books visits weeks ahead.
-
A decision made in minutes
The patient is sick or hurt now. Hours, distance, the wait and a way to check in online decide the visit before anyone reads a service page.
-
Every location is its own market
Each clinic competes in a few miles around it. Budgets, listings and reviews have to work clinic by clinic, not as one brand total.
-
An illness season, not a flat year
Searches climb in December and January, flu shot searches live from September to January, and sports physicals spike in July and August.
-
Staffing sets the ceiling
A full lobby turns paid clicks into walkouts and poor reviews. Spend has to follow the providers on shift and the wait at each door.
-
Employers as a second customer
DOT physicals, drug screens and work injury care come from employers and drivers, a steady line with its own searches and its own sales cycle.
-
Tracking without the reason for the visit
A check-in or a call can be counted. The symptom, the diagnosis and what the patient typed in the form should never reach an ad platform.
What patients search when they need urgent care, and when.
Monthly searches and estimated click costs for the searches an urgent care clinic competes for. Most volume sits on a few "near me" terms; the service searches below them carry the seasons.
| Search | US / mo | Est. click cost, Charlotte |
|---|---|---|
| urgent care near me | 4,090,000 | $2.00 to $7.51 |
| urgent care | 1,500,000 | $2.05 to $7.55 |
| urgent care charlotte | 4,400 | $2.81 to $8.21 |
| walk in clinic near me | 201,000 | $1.74 to $8.16 |
| pediatric urgent care near me | 74,000 | $1.85 to $6.72 |
| dot physical near me | 74,000 | $0.83 to $3.41 |
| urgent care near me open now | 60,500 | $1.73 to $7.23 |
| flu shot near me | 49,500 | $2.07 to $14.41 |
| sports physical near me | 27,100 | $1.01 to $3.67 |
| virtual urgent care | 12,100 | $7.00 to $21.84 |
- December is the peak, February the dip
- "Urgent care near me" reached 90,500 searches in December 2025 and 74,000 in January, then fell to 49,500 in February 2026 before settling at 60,500. "Pediatric urgent care near me" jumped from 1,000 in November to 2,400 in December. Winter budgets and winter staffing have to rise together.
- Flu shots and physicals have their own calendars
- "Flu shot near me" fell from 1,600 searches in October 2025 to 70 in April 2026 and was climbing again by September. "Sports physical near me" reached 880 in August 2026 and 720 in July, against 110 in December. Each one is a short window worth funding only while it is open.
- Employer and virtual care price very differently
- "DOT physical near me" held between 590 and 1,300 searches every month with clicks from $0.83, the cheapest in the data. "Virtual urgent care" clicks start at $7.00, three and a half times "urgent care near me". One account cannot judge both on the same cost per visit.

Our approach: it depends, and the data decides.
An independent walk-in clinic and a multi-location group with occupational health and virtual visits need different plans. Four things decide where an urgent care plan starts.
- Your goals Fill slower hours, grow pediatric visits, open a new location, win employer contracts or add virtual visits. Each starts with a different keyword group, listing and page.
- Your timeline Search ads and the map can move walk-ins within days. A new location’s listing and reviews, employer relationships and the pages that rank build over months.
- Your budget With "near me" clicks starting near $2, a smaller budget goes to the hours and locations with open capacity, weighted toward December and January, with short flu shot and physical pushes.
- Your competition Hospital systems, national chains and retail clinics bid on the same searches. An independent clinic wins on the shortest wait, online check-in, the hours it keeps and reviews that mention the staff.
Data sets the budget by location, by hour and by season, ties every check-in and call to the search, listing or ad that started it without the reason for the visit, and shows which channels bring patients back.
Single clinic
Own the few miles around the door
A complete Google profile, a tight "near me" campaign with call and directions, online check-in on the landing page and a review request after every visit.
Multi-location group
Fund each clinic on its own numbers
A campaign and listing per location, budgets that shift toward clinics with shorter waits, and reporting by clinic so one busy location never hides another’s empty lobby.
Urgent care with occupational health
Sell to patients and to employers
Walk-in campaigns for patients, plus a separate employer line for DOT physicals, drug screens and work injury care, with its own pages, budget and sales follow-up.
If an urgent care clinic came to us, here is how we would start.
This is the pitch we would give a real client, built for a fictional Charlotte urgent care with real search data. The business, its phone number and its website are invented. Sample data shows the kind of results a campaign like this tracks; it is not a client result and not a promise.

How our specialists segment search demand by buyer intent
We would split the account by what the patient is searching for, because each group has its own click cost, season and page. Budget then moves to whichever group is in its strongest months and to the hours the clinic has room.

How our negative keyword governance protects the budget
- Hospital system and chain clinic names
- Emergency room and life-threatening searches
- Jobs, nursing school and medical assistant training
- Veterinary and pet urgent care
- Free clinic and pharmacy-only searches
- Symptom research with no intent to visit
Urgent care searches pull in brand searches for other systems, emergencies the clinic should never invite, job seekers, pet owners and people reading about symptoms. Our specialists load these exclusions before launch and review the search terms every week, so the budget reaches patients the clinic can see today.
How we write and test the Google search ads
Each intent group gets message-matched ad copy engineered by our specialists to qualify buyers before the click and lift expected click-through rate.

The Google listing and the map
Urgent care is not one of the health categories Local Services Ads lists in the US, so each location’s Google Business Profile carries the map on its own. That makes the listing the clinic’s front door: exact hours, holiday hours set before every holiday, the online check-in link, services such as X-ray and physicals, insurance accepted and real photos of the clinic. Patients read recent reviews closely and reviews often describe a visit. Every reply thanks the patient in general terms and never confirms that someone was seen or why.
The Facebook ad
Social ads keep the clinic known in the few miles around it before anyone needs it, so its name is familiar on the map later. Meta does not allow ads that assert or imply a viewer’s health, so the ad describes the clinic, its hours and its services, never the viewer’s symptoms, and targets by location rather than by health interests.
The email
This goes only to past patients who agreed to receive email, sent from the clinic’s own system, and it names a seasonal service, never a past visit or condition. A September send fills the weeks when flu shot searches climb, and brings the patient back to a clinic they already know.
Flu shots are ready at every location.
This season’s flu shots are in. Walk in any day we are open, or check in online and we will text you when it is your turn. Bring the whole family; children and adults can be seen in the same visit, and most insurance covers the shot.
Check in onlineThe landing page the ads send people to
A patient in pain wants three answers: is the clinic open, how long is the wait and will it take their insurance. The page answers those first, puts check-in and directions above the fold and keeps the check-in form to a name, a phone number and a time, leaving the reason for the visit for the front desk.

- Search and the map catch the patient Near me, open now, minutes from the door.
- Online check-in holds a spot The patient waits at home, not in the lobby.
- A review request after the visit Fresh reviews for the next patient to read.
- Email brings the family back Flu shots and physicals each season.
How our team tracks calls, bookings and revenue
- Calls, directions and check-insCalls, map directions and online check-ins counted by location as plain events, with no symptom, visit reason or form text attached.
- Visits from the clinic systemCompleted visits counted from the practice management system and matched to the source in aggregate, sent back to Google only where the clinic’s privacy review allows it.
- Spend against the waitSpend by location and hour next to the wait time and providers on shift, so budget moves to the clinics and hours with room.
- A monthly report by clinicSpend, calls, check-ins and cost per visit for each location, with seasonal services such as flu shots and physicals reported apart.

Urgent care digital marketing services, and which come first.
The four core services carry most urgent care plans. The others join as the group adds locations; a single clinic and a ten-location group rarely need the same mix.

Urgent care marketing in Charlotte, clinic by clinic.
We are based in Charlotte, where hospital systems, national chains and independent clinics all compete on the same "near me" searches, and where a clinic’s real market is the few miles a patient will drive while sick. We plan each location on its own radius, hours and wait, fund the December and January peak, and time flu shot and physical pushes to the weeks those searches open. We also work with urgent care groups nationwide; the searches, the payers, state rules and the competition change by market, and the plan changes with them.
Six growth leaks we fix in urgent care ad accounts.
When we take over urgent care accounts, these are the places we most often find patients and visits leaking, and what we change first.
Ads running while the doors are closed
A click at 11 PM for a clinic that closed at 8 is wasted, and a holiday with no holiday hours sends patients to a locked door. We schedule ads to each clinic’s hours and set holiday hours on every listing ahead of time.
One budget for every location
A group budget lets the busiest clinic soak up spend while a quieter one sits empty. We give each location its own campaign and listing, and move budget to the clinics with the shortest wait.
Flu shot spend in spring
"Flu shot near me" fell from 1,600 Charlotte searches in October to 70 in April. We run flu shots from September to January and sports physicals in July and August, then switch them off.
Inviting emergencies
Ads on chest pain or emergency room searches pull in patients an urgent care should send elsewhere. We exclude emergency searches and keep ad copy to the conditions the clinic treats.
Virtual and walk-in care in one campaign
"Virtual urgent care" clicks start at $7.00 in Charlotte, against $2.00 for "urgent care near me". We run virtual visits apart, so their cost never blurs the walk-in numbers.
Reviews that confirm a visit
A reply that mentions a patient’s injury, or thanks them by name, confirms care they never agreed to share. We set a reply standard that thanks the patient in general terms and moves details to a phone call.
Questions urgent care owners ask us.
How much should an urgent care clinic spend on advertising?
It depends on how many locations you run, the hours you keep, how many patients each clinic can see in a shift and which services you want to grow. "Urgent care near me" clicks in Charlotte start around $2, so we set the budget by location and hour, weighted toward December and January, then adjust it as visit data comes in.
When do patients search for urgent care?
All year, with a winter peak. In the Charlotte area "urgent care near me" reached 90,500 searches in December 2025 and dipped to 49,500 in February 2026. Flu shot searches peak in October, and sports physical searches in July and August.
Can urgent care clinics run Local Services Ads?
Not at the moment. Urgent care is not among the health care categories Google lists for Local Services Ads in the US, so each location’s Google Business Profile and search ads carry local search. We build every listing around its hours, check-in link and services.
Can we target ads to people who are sick?
No. Google and Meta treat health conditions as sensitive, so ads cannot target people by illness or imply what a viewer has. We target places and searches, write ads about the clinic and its services, and keep symptoms out of audience lists.
Do you work with urgent care groups outside Charlotte?
Yes. We are based in Charlotte and work with urgent care clinics and multi-location groups across the US. The method is the same; the click costs, the payers, state rules and the competition change by market.
What do you measure besides clicks?
Calls, map directions, online check-ins, completed visits, cost per visit and reviews earned, reported by location and by hour, with seasonal services such as flu shots and physicals reported apart.
