HubSpot success story · Independent insurance agency
How a Texas insurance agency grew revenue 60% a year with HubSpot and no paid ads.
Insurance for Texans replaced a patchwork of tools with one HubSpot account, published helpful content almost every day and let automated follow-up do the chasing. Revenue grew 60% year over year without a dollar spent on advertising.

- Grow revenue without paying for ads
The results.
Revenue growth is year over year, over the last 15 to 18 months, with no paid advertising. The 30% conversion rate and three-week sales cycle are compared with industry averages the company cites (5% and 60 to 90 days), not with its own earlier results.
- 60%year-over-year revenue growth, with no paid ads
- 30%conversion rate on targeted content, against a 5% industry average
- 3 weeksaverage sales cycle, against a 60 to 90 day industry norm
HubSpot does not publish a baseline period or method for these figures; they are the company’s own reported results.
The challenge.
Insurance for Texans is an independent agency in Dallas-Fort Worth, founded in 2016, that sells business, home and specialty coverage to families and companies across the state. It has run as a fully remote team from the start. Texas insurance is complicated: severe storms keep getting more frequent, data rules are strict, and customers want answers fast when the weather turns.
The agency had been running several tools on top of the free version of HubSpot, stitched together with a connector service. Keeping that setup working cost money and staff time, and it slowed the team down at exactly the wrong moment, during storm surges when calls and questions spike. The owner added up the full cost of the disconnected systems and decided to put everything in one place.
What they did.
Marketing automation · Content program · One CRM for calls, texts and email · Policy renewal workflows
- One system for every conversation
- All tools moved into one HubSpot CRM. Calls, texts, chats and emails are logged on the contact record, so anyone on the team can see the full history, including questions a chatbot answered overnight.
- Helpful content, almost daily
- The agency writes content at least five days a week on renewals, coverage gaps and getting ready for extreme weather, and sends it out automatically to the website, social channels, YouTube and email.
- Follow-up that runs itself
- Automated workflows react to what a prospect does on the website, in chat and on forms, and follow up by text or email without anyone having to remember.
- Outreach timed to the renewal date
- Automated campaigns reach prospects around the date their current policy expires, the moment they are most open to comparing quotes.
- Trade shows that feed the CRM
- At a trade show, QR codes sent visitors to forms, and an automated follow-up campaign took over from there. The company says the event paid for itself within weeks.
Why it worked.
Our read on the decisions behind the numbers, and what any business can take from them.
- Content that answers real questions
- People shopping for insurance have questions before they want a quote. Answering them every week builds trust and brings in buyers who are already half sold, which is how the agency grew without ads.
- Timing beats volume
- Reaching people when a policy is about to expire, or right after they download a guide, matters more than how many emails go out.
- One record, no repeated questions
- With every call and message in one place, customers do not have to explain themselves twice, which shortens the path from first question to signed policy.
- Fewer tools, less to break
- Replacing the patchwork removed the cost and the failure points that slowed the team down during storms.
How we would run this play for your business.
You do not need a national budget to use the same ideas. This is how Overtop Media Digital Marketing puts them to work in our hubspot setup and management.
- Build the content calendar
- We plan articles, videos and emails around the questions your customers actually ask, written for people and for search, and published on a steady schedule.
- Automate the follow-up
- We set up workflows for form fills, chat and key dates like renewals or service reminders, all inside your HubSpot account, so no lead waits on a busy team.
- Use email for the long game
- Most buyers are not ready on day one. Our email marketing keeps you in front of them with HubSpot email until they are.
- Add ads when you want to scale
- Content wins over time. When you want growth sooner, our Google Ads management catches people searching today and feeds every lead into the same CRM.
Who this play fits.
You do not have to be an independent insurance agency to use the same approach. It is a strong fit for:
- Insurance agencies
- Financial advisors and planners
- Mortgage brokers
- Accounting and tax firms
- Law firms
- Any business where customers research before they buy
