ActiveCampaign success story · Portable storage franchise
How a portable storage franchise turns 17% of quote requests into customers with ActiveCampaign.
Go Mini’s rents portable storage containers through 114 franchise locations. Quote requests used to wait for a franchisee to call back, while competitors quoted fast. Now every request starts a seven-email sequence over ten days that stops the moment the prospect becomes a customer, and 17% of quote requests convert.

The results.
Open rates were below 6% on Constant Contact before the switch in May 2024. The story gives the quote conversion rate as 17% in its summary and 17 to 20% of recipients in its body. Open rates are inflated by mail privacy features, so treat them as a direction.

The challenge.
Go Mini’s started in 2002 as a dealer network and became a franchise in 2012. It now has 114 locations in 41 states, mostly in the Northeast and Southeast, supported by a corporate marketing team of six people.
Its old email tool was basic and fully manual. Lead segments depended on franchisees tagging every lead correctly, which often did not happen, and open rates were below 6%. Worst of all, a quote request got no automatic follow-up: the prospect waited until a franchisee found time to call, while competitors were quoting quickly.
What they did.
Platform switch from Constant Contact · Quote request email sequence · Nightly customer sync and tagging · An account for each franchise location
- A sequence for every quote
- When a quote request syncs from the company’s own operating system, an automation sends seven emails over ten days: one hour after the request, then at 24 hours, again a day later, then every 48 hours.
- Customers drop out automatically
- A nightly sync checks who has become a customer and tags them, removing them from the sales sequence so nobody gets a pitch for something they already bought.
- A simple tagging structure
- One customer or non-customer tag replaced a tangle of manual labels that franchisees rarely kept up to date.
- One account for each location
- Through ActiveCampaign for franchises, 85 franchise accounts run under corporate oversight, so owners can localize promotions while the brand stays consistent.
- A careful rollout
- For the first 90 days, corporate handled all customization requests before giving franchisees fuller access.
Why it worked.
Our read on the decisions behind the numbers, and what any business can take from them.
- Nobody waits for a callback
- A prospect who asks for a quote is comparing options right now. An email within the hour keeps the business in the conversation.
- Persistence sells
- Moving and storage decisions take days. Seven well-spaced emails stay in front of the prospect until they are ready.
- Clean data protects the brand
- Removing customers from the sales sequence every night means no awkward pitches to people who already said yes.
- Central build, local voice
- Corporate builds the program once; every location benefits without needing its own marketer.
How we would run this play for your business.
You do not need a national budget to use the same ideas. This is how Overtop Media Digital Marketing puts them to work in our ActiveCampaign automation and management.
- Connect your quote system
- Your website forms, booking or operating system feed your ActiveCampaign account, so every quote starts a sequence within minutes.
- Write a sequence that answers objections
- Price, timing, size, trust: each email handles one real question your customers ask before they buy.
- Keep the list clean automatically
- Converted customers leave the sales sequence and move into onboarding and review requests.
- Win the local search
- Our Google Ads and Meta ads run by territory, so each location gets quote requests that feed the same follow-up.
Who this play fits.
You do not have to be a portable storage franchise to use the same approach. It is a strong fit for:
- Franchise and multi-location brands
- Moving and storage companies
- Home services that quote jobs
- Equipment rental businesses
- Contractors and remodelers
- Any business that sends estimates
