Fintech

The fintech marketing agency that wins finance teams, not curious consumers

Business fintech is bought by controllers and CFOs who distrust new money tools, shop on the close calendar and pay some of the highest click costs in search. We plan search, LinkedIn, comparison pages and nurture email inside the financial ad policies, and we judge every channel by qualified demos and funded accounts.

  • 5xswing in "ap automation software" searches between March 2026 (8,100) and June 2026 (1,600), US
  • $48.44low end of the estimated click cost for "ap automation software", against $2.75 for "expense management app"
  • 3.5xrise in "ramp alternatives" searches from November 2025 (110) to July and August 2026 (390), US
  • 50Charlotte-area searches a month for "ap automation software": the market is national

The short answer

What should a fintech marketing agency be accountable for?

A fintech marketing agency should be accountable for qualified demos and funded or active accounts from real finance teams, delivered inside the ad platforms’ financial services rules, at a cost the account’s first-year revenue can carry.

In fintech, one careless click is expensive and one careless claim can stop the whole account. In the fintech accounts our fintech digital marketing agency audits, the budget usually leaks in three places: consumer searches that look like business ones, demo forms that never reach a finance decision maker, and ads paused because the advertiser was never verified for its category under Google’s financial services verification. As a fintech SEO agency and paid media team, we plan fintech search ads, comparison pages and SEO for fintech through fintech SEO, LinkedIn Ads, Microsoft Ads and nurture email as one acquisition system, measured in qualified demos and accounts that go live.

What fintech companies need their marketing to solve.

These are the pressures we see in business payments, spend management and business banking accounts. They are why a fintech plan is built differently from a general SaaS plan or a bank’s branch marketing.

  • Trust before the first click

A finance team is being asked to move money through a company it has not heard of. Security, the partner bank, controls and real customer names have to show up in the ad, the page and the follow-up.

  • Ads that pass financial policy

Payment, card and banking ads fall under the platforms’ financial services rules. Verification, required disclosures and careful claims decide whether the ads run at all, in each country they target.

  • The close and budget calendar

Finance teams shop when the year-end close and new budgets expose the pain. In 2026, accounts payable software searches rose through spring and fell to a few hundred a month in July and August.

  • Business buyers, not consumers

Many fintech searches read the same for a controller and a person tracking a household budget. Separating the two is what keeps a $40 click from going to someone who will never sign a contract.

  • Switchers from the big names

Spend management and payments are crowded. A large share of buyers already use a card, a processor or a bill pay tool, and they search its name, its fees and its alternatives.

  • Revenue data back in the ad platforms

A demo is not revenue. Accounts approved, funded and spending, sent back from the CRM and the ledger, are what teach Google, Microsoft and LinkedIn which clicks were worth paying for.

What fintech buyers search, and when.

US monthly searches and estimated click costs for business payments, spend management and business banking, from the broad terms to the switchers. The yearly averages hide the buying calendar, so the notes below read the monthly curve.

Payables software is bought in the first half of the year
"ap automation software" reached 8,100 US searches in March 2026 and 4,400 in January and February, then fell to 1,600 in June and July. "accounts payable software" peaked at 6,600 in May 2026 and dropped to 590 in July and August. The year-end close and new budgets drive the search, so the budget curve should follow them.
The same words, two different buyers
"expense management software" and "expense management app" each averaged 2,900 US searches, but the low end of the click cost was $28.66 for the first and $2.75 for the second. The cheaper one is mostly people tracking their own spending. Business fintech pays for the right word and excludes the other.
Cards and switchers rise in summer
"corporate card" climbed from 1,300 searches in February 2026 to 5,400 in July 2026, and "ramp alternatives" went from 110 in November 2025 to 390 in July and August 2026. "brex alternatives" starts at $38.41 a click. Switching intent is growing, and it is priced as the most valuable search in the category.

Our approach: it depends, and the data decides.

A payables platform sold to controllers, a processor sold to merchants and a business account opened online need different plans. Four things decide where a fintech plan starts.

  • Your goals More demos for a sales team, more self-serve sign-ups, more accounts that get approved and funded, or a lower cost per active account. Each starts with a different campaign and page.
  • Your timeline Search on payables, card and switching terms can bring demos within weeks once the account is verified. Comparison pages, fintech SEO and review profiles compound over quarters.
  • Your regulatory position Who issues the card, holds the deposits or licenses the money movement shapes the claims, disclosures and ad categories. We plan the copy and the verification around it before launch.
  • Your competition Against well-funded card and payments brands, we pick the job titles, company sizes and comparisons where a focused product wins, instead of the broad terms they already own.

Data sets the budget curve for the close and budget calendar, ties every demo to the search, page or ad that started it, and shows which channels bring accounts that go live and keep spending.

If a fintech company came to us, here is how we would start.

This is the pitch we would give a real client, built for a fictional Charlotte fintech company with real US search data. The company, its phone number and its website are invented. Sample data shows the kind of results a campaign like this tracks; it is not a client result and not a promise.

How our specialists segment search demand by buyer intent

We would split the account by the job the finance team is hiring for. Each group gets its own budget, its own landing page and its own conversion value, so spend can follow the close calendar and the groups that bring accounts that go live.

Payables and bill pay

The most valuable buyers and the most expensive clicks. Budget is heaviest from January to May, when these searches peak, and lighter in the summer trough.

SearchUS / moEst. click cost
ap automation software2,900$48.44 to $225.00
accounts payable software2,900$40.00 to $183.60
accounts payable automation1,600$48.14 to $205.12
bill pay software260$9.84 to $61.25
vendor payment software90$35.00 to $55.95
invoice payment software90$20.00 to $102.36

Expense and spend management

Controllers tired of chasing receipts. "Software" wording only: the "app" versions of these searches belong to consumers and are excluded.

SearchUS / moEst. click cost
expense management software2,900$28.66 to $114.77
expense report software880$19.81 to $119.79
spend management software390$19.88 to $66.78

Corporate cards

Run under the card ad policies, with the issuing partner bank named on the page. Budget rises in early summer, when card searches climb.

SearchUS / moEst. click cost
corporate credit card2,400$25.38 to $137.25
corporate card1,900$20.00 to $98.77
virtual cards for business90$27.37 to $91.68

Switchers

Finance teams leaving a larger card or spend platform. Sent to comparison pages that answer the switching question, with rival names kept out of ad text where trademark policy restricts them.

SearchUS / moEst. click cost
ramp alternatives210$20.00 to $116.79
brex alternatives110$38.41 to $181.22

How our negative keyword governance protects the budget

  • Personal budgeting and expense apps
  • Personal and consumer credit cards
  • Existing customer login and support searches
  • Accounts payable jobs, courses and certification
  • Free invoice templates and spreadsheets
  • Rewards, points and travel card comparisons

At $20 to $48 at the low end per click, our specialists exclude households tracking their own spending, consumer card shoppers, customers of other platforms looking for their login and job seekers before launch, and review search terms every week so the budget reaches finance teams ready to change how they pay.

How we write and test the Google search ads

Each intent group gets message-matched ad copy engineered by our specialists to qualify buyers before the click and lift expected click-through rate.

The Facebook ad

Payment and card ads run under Meta’s Financial products and services ad category, which removes age, gender and ZIP code targeting and lookalike audiences. So Meta works here as retargeting of site visitors and customer-list reach, while LinkedIn carries the finance job titles.

The email

Fintech deals stall on trust and sign-off, not features. Each nurture email answers the next question a finance committee raises, and hands engaged accounts to sales before the next close or budget cycle.

Fintech marketing from Charlotte, for products sold everywhere.

We are based in Charlotte, one of the largest banking centers in the country, where fintech companies grow alongside the banks they partner with, from Uptown to South End. Most of our fintech work is national because that is where the buyers are: about fifty Charlotte-area searches a month for "ap automation software", against 2,900 across the US. Campaigns follow the US market, the states the product is licensed or offered in and the time zones the sales team covers. We work with fintech companies nationwide, from the Charlotte region to anywhere in the US.

Six growth leaks we fix in fintech ad accounts.

When we take over fintech accounts, these are the places we most often find demos and revenue leaking, and what we change first.

  1. Paying business prices for consumer searches

Words like "expense", "payments" and "card" bring households as well as finance teams. We bid on business wording, exclude personal budgeting and consumer card searches, and check the search terms every week.

  2. Launching before verification

Payment, card and banking ads can be limited or stopped until the advertiser is verified for its category and country. We confirm the category and the verification before launch, so the first weeks of budget are not lost to disapprovals.

  3. Spending evenly through the year

Payables software searches in 2026 peaked from January to May and fell sharply in July and August. We set a monthly budget curve from the search data and keep retargeting and LinkedIn warm in the slow months.

  4. Claims that outrun the license

Wording about banking, deposit insurance, rates or approval that the company cannot back gets ads rejected and costs trust. We write copy that names the partner bank where it applies and keeps every claim exact.

  5. Counting every demo the same

A demo from a student and one from a controller at a 200-person company are not worth the same. We send qualified, funded and live accounts back to Google, Microsoft and LinkedIn, so bidding learns which clicks pay.

  6. Relying on Meta targeting that no longer exists

Financial ads on Meta cannot target by age, gender or ZIP code or use lookalikes. We move finance-title targeting to LinkedIn and use Meta for retargeting and customer lists, where it still earns its place.

Questions fintech founders and marketers ask us.

What should a fintech company spend on paid search?

It depends on what a live account earns in its first year, how many demos your sales team can close and how crowded your category is. Business fintech clicks often start above $20 and reach $48 at the low end for payables terms, so we start from the searches that describe your product, set a budget that follows the close and budget calendar, and adjust it as CRM and ledger data show what each channel returns.

Do fintech ads need special approval?

Often, yes. Google asks advertisers in certain financial service categories to complete financial services verification for each country they target, and Meta requires its Financial products and services ad category for ads about payments, cards and accounts. We confirm what applies to your product before launch and write ads and pages around it.

Is this different from marketing a bank?

Yes. A community bank sells to households and businesses near its branches. A fintech company usually sells a product nationally, often through a partner bank, to finance teams that compare it with other platforms. The searches, the buyers and the claims you can make are different, so the plan is too.

How long until fintech SEO pays off?

Comparison, security and use-case pages can start bringing demos within a few months; broad category rankings take much longer. As a fintech SEO agency and full-service fintech digital marketing agency, we start SEO for fintech with the pages that match the most expensive paid clicks, lowering the cost of searches you would otherwise pay $40 or more for.

Do you work with fintech companies outside Charlotte?

Yes. We are based in Charlotte, and most of our fintech work is national because finance buyers are. The method is the same everywhere; the product, the regulators and partner banks involved, and the competitors change.

What do you measure besides demos?

Qualified demos, approved and funded accounts, accounts that start spending or processing, and cost per live account by channel. A demo count alone cannot tell a student from a controller, so CRM and ledger data are part of the reporting.
