Wineries and distilleries
Wine marketing for wineries and distilleries that fills the tasting room
A winery or distillery sells a day out, a bottle to take home and a membership that ships all year. We plan your Google listing, search ads, social ads and club emails around harvest season, the holiday gift months and the state shipping rules, and we judge the work by tasting room visits, bottles sold and club members who stay.
- 2,400searches a month for "vineyards near me" in the Charlotte area
- 2.8xmore "vineyards near me" searches in October than in January, Charlotte area
- 2.1xthe starting click cost of "distillery near me" compared with "wineries near me"
- 390"wine club" searches in December, against 40 to 110 in most other months
The short answer
What does wine marketing need that a bar or brewery plan does not?
Wine marketing has to sell the drive out to the tasting room, the bottles that leave with the guest and a club membership that keeps shipping, all under alcohol rules that change by platform and by state.
In the Charlotte area "vineyards near me" and "wineries near me" together draw about 4,300 searches a month, and many more people search the region by name, such as "wineries in charlotte nc" and the Yadkin Valley. A wine club is the business that lasts, and shipping it is regulated: North Carolina allows two cases per person per month from a permitted winery, with an adult signature at delivery (North Carolina wine shipper permit law). On Meta, US alcohol ads may only reach people 21 and over (Meta alcohol ad policy), and Google limits where alcohol ads run and who sees them (Google alcohol policy).
We plan the Google listing and search ads for the weekend visit, social ads for harvest events and releases, and email for the club, so a first tasting turns into a member who orders all year.
What wineries and distilleries need their marketing to solve.
These are the pressures we see in winery and distillery ad accounts, club rosters and event calendars. They are why this plan looks different from a brewery’s or a bar’s.
-
A drive, not a walk-in
Most vineyards sit outside town, so guests plan the trip days ahead and compare several stops. The decision is made on the map and the website long before anyone arrives.
-
Harvest season decides the year
Searches peak in October and fall by more than half by January. Harvest events, the fall release and group bookings have to be ready before the leaves turn.
-
A club that has to keep shipping
The wine club or bottle society carries the slow months. Members who join on a busy Saturday and never hear from the winery again cancel after the second shipment.
-
Rules on ads, age and shipping
Meta limits US alcohol ads to adults 21 and over, Google restricts alcohol ads, and every state sets its own shipping and bottle sale rules. The plan is built to all three from the start.
-
Wine searches that are not about you
National bourbon trails, wine subscription boxes, store wine deals and tours in Italy or France share the same words. A loose wine keyword pays for people who were never driving to your vineyard.
-
Distillery clicks cost more
Distillery searches start at about twice the click cost of winery searches in the Charlotte area. A distillery plan has to be tighter on distance and on the tour, or the budget runs out early.
What wine and spirits guests search, and when.
Monthly searches and estimated click costs for the searches a winery or distillery competes for in the Charlotte area. Visit searches follow the harvest season; club searches gather in December.

| wineries near me | 165,000 | $0.49 to $1.52 |
| distillery near me | 135,000 | $1.05 to $2.30 |
| wineries in charlotte nc | 2,900 | $0.48 to $1.73 |
| wine tasting charlotte | 1,300 | $0.40 to $2.99 |
| wineries near charlotte nc | 1,000 | $0.43 to $1.30 |
| wine tasting near me | 60,500 | $0.58 to $2.48 |

| wine club | 9,900 | $3.01 to $10.54 |
- Harvest month is the peak
- "Vineyards near me" reached 3,600 Charlotte-area searches in October 2025, fell to 1,300 in January 2026, came back to 2,900 in March and 3,600 in May. "Yadkin valley wineries" doubled from about 260 to 480 in October. The fall release and harvest events are sold in August and September.
- The wine club is a December decision
- "Wine club" drew 390 Charlotte-area searches in December 2025 and between 40 and 110 in most other months; "wine of the month club" and wine gift subscriptions spiked the same month. The gift membership offer has to be live by Thanksgiving.
- Club clicks cost six times a visit click
- "Wine club" clicks start at $3.01 at the low end in the Charlotte area, against $0.49 for "wineries near me". New members come cheaper from the tasting room and the visitor list than from cold club searches.

Our approach: it depends, and the data decides.
An estate winery with a tasting room, an urban winery or tasting bar and a craft distillery with tours need different plans. Four things decide where a wine or spirits plan starts.
- Your goals More tasting room visits, a bigger club, more weddings and private events, more bottles shipped, or more shelves carrying your label. Each one starts in a different channel.
- Your timeline A listing refresh and search ads for the weekend move within weeks. A harvest season, a holiday club push or a new release is built in the months before.
- Your budget Winery visit clicks in Charlotte start under fifty cents at the low end, distillery clicks near a dollar and club clicks near three. The budget follows the season and the offer, not a flat monthly line.
- Your competition A vineyard an hour out competes with every day trip in the region; a distillery in town competes with the evening plans around it.
Data sets when the harvest and holiday budgets start, which events deserve paid support, and ties every club signup, case shipped and event booking back to the channel that sent it.

If a Charlotte-area winery came to us, here is how we would start.
This is the pitch we would give a real client, built for a fictional winery and distillery near Charlotte with real search data. The business, its phone number and its website are invented. Sample data shows the kind of results a campaign like this tracks; it is not a client result and not a promise.

How our specialists segment search demand by buyer intent
We would split the account by why someone is looking, because a couple planning a Saturday among the vines, a group booking a wine country day and a guest buying a gift membership make different decisions. Every ad talks about the setting, the food and the tasting, never how much anyone drinks.

How our negative keyword governance protects the budget
- Kentucky bourbon trail and national distillery tours
- National wine subscription boxes
- Store and warehouse club wine deals
- Wine tours in Europe
- Wine jobs and courses
- Home winemaking supplies
Wine and spirits searches mix tasting room guests with trip planners headed elsewhere and bargain shoppers. In the Charlotte area, Buffalo Trace tours alone drew about 260 searches a month and "bourbon trail tours" about 170, and store wine and European wine tour searches show up every month. Our specialists load these exclusions before launch and read the search terms every week.

The Google listing and the map
A vineyard visit is planned on the map, so the plan starts with the Google Business Profile: the winery and distillery categories, tasting hours that change with the season, a reservation link, photos of the vines, the patio and the barrel room, posts for each release and harvest weekend, and a reply to every review. Wineries and distilleries are not a Local Services Ads category, so the listing does that work on its own.
The Instagram ad
Social ads put each harvest event and release in front of adults within a day-trip drive, weeks before the weekend. Every ad is set to 21 and over, as Meta requires for alcohol in the US, and the creative shows the vines, the food and the people rather than drinking.
The email
Club members are the winery’s best audience, already 21 and over and opted in. A pickup weekend email keeps them coming back to the tasting room, where they buy beyond the shipment and bring the next member with them.
Your fall shipment is ready
The fall club wines are in, including our first estate cabernet franc. Pick up this weekend and taste the full release with the winemaker, or we ship it to you with adult signature. Bring a friend who has been meaning to join.
Choose pickup or shippingThe landing page the ads send people to
Someone planning a group day out compares a few venues and wants an answer fast. The page asks for the date and group size up front, so every inquiry can be quoted and tracked to the ad or post that sent it.

Winery and distillery marketing services, and which come first.
The four core services carry most wine and spirits plans. The others join when the business is ready; an estate winery and a distillery in town rarely need the same mix.

Wine marketing in Charlotte, from harvest season to the holidays.
We are based in Charlotte, an easy drive from the Yadkin Valley, the Uwharrie region and the vineyards and distilleries spread across the Piedmont. A winery has two markets: the city guests choosing a day trip this weekend, and the club members who order from anywhere the shipping rules allow. We plan visit campaigns across the area, from Huntersville and Mooresville to Concord and Gastonia, and club campaigns wherever the winery can ship. We also work with wineries and distilleries nationwide; the seasons and the state rules on alcohol shipping and promotion change, while the planning works the same way.
Six growth leaks we fix in winery and distillery marketing.
When we take over winery and distillery accounts, these are the places we most often find visits, club members and event bookings leaking, and what we change first.
Paying for bourbon trail planners
Broad distillery and wine keywords match national bourbon trails, subscription boxes and store deals. We exclude them before launch and read the search terms weekly, so the budget reaches people who can drive to you.
Ads that stall in review
Drinking-first creative and open age settings get wine and spirits ads limited or rejected. We build every ad to Google and Meta alcohol rules, set to adults 21 and over, and lead with the vines, the food and the event.
Harvest promoted in October
Charlotte winery searches peak in October, so the decision is made in August and September. We have harvest events, reservations and ads ready before the season starts.
A club that goes quiet after signup
Members who never hear from the winery between shipments cancel early. We set a welcome series and pickup weekend emails so members keep coming back and buying beyond the shipment.
Buying club members with cold clicks
Wine club clicks start at about six times the cost of a visit click. We grow the club from tasting room guests and the visitor list first, and keep paid club search for the December gift weeks.
Shipping rules buried at checkout
Guests who learn at checkout that a state is closed or that an adult must sign leave unhappy. We put the shipping states and the signature rule on the club and shop pages, where buyers decide.
Questions winery and distillery owners ask us.
Can a winery or distillery run ads on Google, Facebook and Instagram?
Yes, inside each platform’s alcohol rules. Meta limits US alcohol ads to people 21 and over, and Google restricts where alcohol ads run and who sees them. We set the targeting and write the creative around both, so ads run instead of sitting in review.
Is search advertising worth it for a tasting room?
Usually, within a day-trip drive and in season. Winery visit clicks in the Charlotte area start under fifty cents at the low end, and the people searching are planning their weekend. We judge it by reservations, directions, calls and club signups, not clicks.
How do you grow a wine club?
Mostly from people who have already visited. Club search clicks cost about six times a visit click, so we build the signup into the tasting room and the visitor list, then keep members with pickup weekends and release emails. Paid club search runs in the December gift weeks, when searches peak.
Can you market wine shipping across state lines?
Yes, within the rules of each state you ship to. North Carolina, for example, allows a permitted winery to ship two cases per person per month with an adult signature at delivery. We show only the states you can ship to and keep the rules on the page where buyers decide.
Do you work with distilleries, not only wineries?
Yes. A distillery plan leans on tours, tastings, classes and bottle releases, with a tighter search radius because distillery clicks cost more. Bottle sales and shipping follow your state’s own spirits rules, and we plan around them.
Do you work with wineries outside Charlotte?
Yes. We are based in Charlotte and work with wineries and distilleries across the US. The method is the same; the seasons, the competition and the state rules on alcohol change with the market.
