Food trucks
Food truck marketing for a business that moves every day
A food truck sells in two ways: the line at today’s stop, and the private bookings that fill the calendar for weddings, offices and parties. We plan your listing, search ads, social video and email around where the truck will be and who books it, and we judge the work by the line, the stops that sell out and booked events.
- 6,600searches a month for "food trucks near me" in the Charlotte area
- $1.47 to $6.89estimated cost of one click on "food trucks near me" in the Charlotte area
- 14xmore "food truck friday" searches in May than in January, Charlotte area
- 4,400searches a month for "taco truck near me" alone in the Charlotte area
The short answer
What does food truck marketing need to do that a restaurant’s marketing does not?
Food truck marketing has to tell people where the truck is today, before lunch, and keep a second calendar full of private events that pay whether the weather holds or not.
A restaurant’s address never changes; a truck’s does, sometimes twice a day. In the Charlotte area "food trucks near me" draws about 6,600 searches a month, and "taco truck near me" another 4,400, so people search by what they want to eat and where they are standing. Bookings are a different market: catering, rental, wedding and event searches for food trucks add up to about 300 a month here, but each one can be worth a full day of street sales. In the accounts we review, the schedule lives in one Instagram post and booking requests arrive as direct messages nobody tracks. We plan the Google listing and search ads around each stop, social ads for the week’s route, and email to the people who book trucks.
What food trucks need their marketing to solve.
These are the pressures we see in food truck accounts and booking inboxes. They are why a truck plan looks different from a restaurant’s, a bakery’s or a bar’s.
-
A new address every day
The brewery on Thursday, an office park on Friday, a festival on Saturday. Every listing, post and ad has to say where the truck is now, or the search finds an empty lot.
-
A service window of a few hours
A lunch stop runs from about eleven to two. Ads and posts that run all day pay for clicks when the window is closed and the truck is already driving.
-
People search by the food
Taco, Indian, halal, barbecue and pizza truck searches each have their own crowd. The truck has to show up for its cuisine, not only for "food trucks".
-
Private events pay the bills
A wedding, a company lunch or a neighborhood party is a guaranteed day. Few people search for one, so the booking calendar is built on referrals, planners and past hosts.
-
A season set by the weather
Search demand nearly doubles from February to March in the Charlotte area. Winter is when the booking list for spring and summer gets built.
-
Hosts decide where you park
Breweries, apartment communities and office managers choose which trucks they invite. A truck they can find, check and book easily gets the good dates.
What food truck customers search, and when.
Monthly searches and estimated click costs for the searches a food truck competes for. The walk-up searches climb in spring and dip in winter; the booking searches are small all year, and worth far more each.
| Search | US / mo | Est. click cost, Charlotte |

- The season opens in March, not June
- "Food trucks near me" sat at 4,400 Charlotte-area searches in December, January and February, then jumped to 8,100 in March 2026 and again in May. "Food trucks charlotte nc" went from 1,600 in December to 3,600 in March. The spring route and the booking list need to be ready before the first warm weekend.
- Food Truck Friday and festivals peak in spring
- "Food truck friday" went from 50 searches in December and January to 720 in May and June 2026. "Food truck festival" reached 480 in April against 20 in December. Event promotion runs on that curve, weeks before the dates.
- Booking searches are few but steady
- "Food truck rental" ran between 90 and 170 Charlotte-area searches every month, and "food truck catering" between 20 and 110. That is a small pool next to the walk-up searches, so search is one source of bookings among several, and every booking inquiry is worth tracking to the dollar.

Our approach: it depends, and the data decides.
A single truck on a weekly route, a truck that mostly caters and a group with a few trucks and a commissary kitchen need different plans. Four things decide where a food truck plan starts.
- Your goals Longer lines at public stops, more private bookings, better host locations, or a brick-and-mortar opening built on the truck’s following. Each starts in a different channel.
- Your timeline A listing cleanup and stop-by-stop ads help within weeks. A spring and summer booking calendar is filled in winter.
- Your budget Truck clicks cost more than bakery or coffee clicks in the Charlotte area. Budget goes to the hours the window is open and to the booking searches, not to all-day reach.
- Your competition A taco truck competes with every taco truck nearby; a wood-fired pizza truck may be the only one at the festival. The cuisine sets who you are up against.
Data sets which stops are worth returning to, moves ad spend to the hours and places the truck is serving, and tracks each booking inquiry back to its source, so the calendar fills from the channels that actually book.
One truck on a weekly route
Fill the line at each stop
A listing that shows today’s stop, search ads that switch on near each location during service hours, and a weekly route post that followers share.
Catering-first truck
Book the calendar months ahead
Booking search ads, an event page with menus by headcount, an inquiry form that captures date and guests, and email to planners and past hosts.
Several trucks and a kitchen
Stops and events at scale
Reporting by truck and by host location, a booking pipeline across the fleet, and outreach to breweries, campuses and office parks for recurring dates.
If a Charlotte food truck came to us, here is how we would start.
This is the pitch we would give a real client, built for a fictional Charlotte taco truck with real search data. The truck, its phone number and its website are invented. Sample data shows the kind of results a campaign like this tracks; it is not a client result and not a promise.

- Weekday lunch and weekend brewery stops

How our specialists segment search demand by buyer intent
We would split the account by what the searcher wants: a truck nearby right now, tacos specifically, or a truck for their own event. Walk-up groups run in a small radius around the day’s stop and only while the window is open; booking groups run across the region all week.

How our negative keyword governance protects the budget
- Food trucks and trailers for sale
- Starting a food truck business
- Food truck jobs and hiring
- Truck builders and equipment
- National chains by name
- Recipes and copycat menus
Food truck searches pull in people buying a truck ("lunch truck for sale" alone draws about 480 a month here), would-be owners, job seekers and fans of chain restaurants. Our specialists load these exclusions before launch and read the search terms every week, so the budget reaches people who want to eat or book.
How we write and test the Google search ads
Each intent group gets message-matched ad copy engineered by our specialists to qualify buyers before the click and lift expected click-through rate.

The Google listing and the map
Hungry people check the map before they walk, so the plan starts with the Google Business Profile, set up in the form Google’s guidelines allow for the way the truck works: a regular stop with set hours, or a service area for catering. Then the listing carries the menu, this week’s route as posts, photos from the window and replies to every review. Food trucks are not a Local Services Ads category, so the listing and its reviews carry the trust a verified badge carries for a home service business.
The Instagram ad
Social video is how a truck’s following knows where to go. We run the weekly route as a short video aimed at people near each stop, and lean in from March, when Charlotte-area food truck searches nearly double.
The email
Few people search for a truck to book, so the calendar is filled from the list: past hosts, planners and office managers hear first in late winter, before the March jump in searches.
Put a taco truck on your calendar
Our spring and summer Saturdays fill first. If you have a wedding, a company lunch or a block party coming up, send us the date and headcount and we will hold it while we put together your menu. Past hosts get first pick of the weekends.
Check my dateThe landing page the ads send people to
A host is comparing two or three trucks and a caterer. The page shows the truck at real events and asks for the date, place and headcount up front, so every inquiry can be quoted and the calendar shows what is still open.

- The map catches the walk-up Today’s stop, hours and reviews.
- Search catches the bookers Catering, rental and wedding searches.
- Email fills the calendar Past hosts and planners, before spring.
How our team tracks calls, bookings and revenue
- Booking inquiries with a dateEvery form, call and message for a private event, with the date, headcount and the channel that sent it.
- Bookings and their valueWhich inquiries became paid events, so booking ads are judged by booked revenue, not clicks.
- Sales by stopEach stop’s sales next to the ads and posts that promoted it, so the route keeps the locations that pay.
- A monthly report by channelSpend, map actions, stop sales and bookings side by side, compared with the same month last year.

Food truck advertising and marketing services, and which come first.
The four core services carry most food truck plans. The others join when the truck is ready; a single truck on a route and a catering-first operation rarely need the same mix.

Food truck marketing in Charlotte, from the lunch rush to the wedding season.
We are based in Charlotte, where food trucks work brewery patios, office parks, apartment communities and weekend festivals across the region. A truck has two markets: the few blocks around today’s stop, and the whole area a wedding or company host will book from. We plan stop campaigns around places like South End, NoDa and Plaza Midwood, and booking campaigns across the area, from Concord and Huntersville to Gastonia and Rock Hill. We also work with food trucks and mobile food brands nationwide; the season starts earlier in the South and later in the North, while the route and the booking calendar work the same way.
Six growth leaks we fix in food truck marketing.
When we take over food truck accounts, these are the places we most often find sales leaking, and what we change first.
A route nobody can find
The week’s schedule sits in one post that scrolls away by Wednesday. We keep today’s stop on the listing, the website and a pinned post, so every search lands on the right lot.
Ads that run while the truck drives
All-day ads pay for clicks before the window opens and after it closes. We schedule walk-up ads to the service hours and move them with each stop.
Paying for trucks for sale
Searches from people buying a truck or starting one look like customers. We exclude them before launch and check the search terms every week.
Booking messages with no follow-up
Event requests arrive as direct messages and get lost in the lunch rush. We route every inquiry to one place with the date and headcount, and track which ones book.
Starting the season in May
Charlotte-area truck searches nearly double in March. We build the booking list in winter and launch route promotion before the first warm weekend.
One-time hosts
A company that booked a lunch last spring will book again. We send past hosts their date ideas before the calendar fills, and most trucks never ask.
Questions food truck owners ask us.
Is food truck advertising on Google worth it?
For bookings, usually yes: catering, rental and wedding clicks in the Charlotte area mostly start under a dollar and one event is worth a full day at a stop. For walk-ups, search ads work in a small radius around the stop while the window is open. We judge both by bookings and customer actions, not clicks.
Should a food truck spend more on social media or search?
They do different jobs. Social media marketing for food trucks posts the route and builds the following that shows up at each stop; search and the map catch people who are hungry nearby or planning an event. Most trucks need both, with social leading the route and search leading bookings.
Can a food truck have a Google Business Profile?
In most cases, in the form Google’s guidelines allow: a regular stop with set hours, or a service area for catering. We set it up the way the truck actually works, keep the hours honest and post the route.
When should the marketing season start?
Earlier than most trucks expect. Charlotte-area food truck searches nearly double from February to March, and Food Truck Friday and festival searches peak from April to June. The booking list gets built in winter.
Do you work with food trucks outside Charlotte?
Yes. We are based in Charlotte and work with food trucks, mobile kitchens and quick food brands across the US. The method is the same; the season and the local event calendar change with the market.
Are you a food truck ad agency only?
No. We are a full-service marketing agency, and food trucks are one of the food businesses we plan for. That lets search, social, email and the website work together on the same route and booking calendar.
