HVAC

The HVAC marketing agency that plans for July and February

Charlotte searches for AC repair swing six times between the quietest month and the hottest one. We plan search ads, Local Services Ads, your Google profile, social ads and email around that curve, and we judge every channel by booked jobs, replacements and maintenance agreements.

  • 6xmore "ac repair" searches in the Charlotte area in July than in February
  • 14xswing in "furnace repair" searches between January and September, Charlotte area
  • $19 to $80estimated cost of one click on "ac repair" in Charlotte
  • Sep and Octwhen Charlotte searches for "ac unit replacement" peak, not July

The short answer

What should an HVAC marketing agency do differently?

An HVAC marketing agency has to sell three different things on three different calendars: emergency repairs in the heat, system replacements in the shoulder months and maintenance agreements before either one.

Most home service marketing treats HVAC as one more trade. In the accounts we inherit, that shows up as one campaign, one budget and one landing page all year. The search data says otherwise: in the Charlotte area, demand for cooling repair peaks in July, heating repair in January, and replacement searches in September and October, when systems that struggled all summer finally give out. We plan Google Ads, Local Services Ads, HVAC SEO, social ads and email as one calendar, and we read results as cost per booked job by job type, because a tune-up, a capacitor swap and a new heat pump are worth very different amounts.

What HVAC companies need their marketing to solve.

These are the pressures we see in HVAC ad accounts and schedules. They are why an HVAC plan is built differently from a plumber’s or a roofer’s.

  • No-cool calls on the first hot weekend

Emergency AC searches in the Charlotte area go from about 20 a month in December to about 720 in July. The calls arrive in waves with the weather, often after hours, and the company that answers live gets the job.

  • Shoulder months that need filling

March, April and October are quiet for repairs but busy for planned work. That is when tune-up offers, agreement renewals and replacement estimates keep technicians on paid calls.

  • Maintenance agreements as the base

An agreement member books two visits a year, calls you first when something breaks and is the most likely buyer of the next system. Growing that list lowers the cost of every job that follows.

  • Replacements that are decided over weeks

A new system is one of the larger purchases a homeowner makes. Financing, comparison content, reviews and a fast in-home estimate turn a "replace or repair" search into a signed install.

  • Leads that are really jobs

A call from someone selling parts, a job seeker or a price shopper outside the service area costs the same click. Booked-job tracking from the field service software is what separates real work from noise.

  • Reviews and Google Verified status

Homeowners with no air in the heat choose from the map and Local Services Ads before they scroll. Recent reviews that mention the job and a verified badge carry most of that decision.

What HVAC customers search, and when.

Monthly searches and estimated click costs for the searches an HVAC company competes for. The averages hide the most useful part, which is when each search happens, so the notes below the table read the monthly curve.

Charlotte is a cooling market first
In the Charlotte area, "ac repair" peaked at 8,100 searches in July 2026 against 1,300 in February. "Furnace repair" peaked at 2,900 in January 2026, about a third of the summer peak. Budgets that split the year evenly between heating and cooling underfund the season that pays.
Replacements follow the peak, they do not ride it
"Ac unit replacement" searches hit 480 in September 2026 and October 2025, and about 30 in December and January. Systems strain through August and are replaced after it, so install campaigns and financing offers belong in the early fall, not only in July.
Maintenance is searched too late
"Ac maintenance" searches peak in June and July, when homeowners already feel the heat. By then the schedule is full of repairs. Agreements sell best when we reach people in March and April through email and social ads, before they think to search.

Our approach: it depends, and the data decides.

A three-truck residential shop and a company running thirty installers with a commercial service desk need different plans. Four things decide where an HVAC plan starts.

  • Your goals More repair calls, more installs, more agreement members or a push into heat pumps and ductless. Each one starts in a different channel and a different month.
  • Your timeline Search and Local Services Ads can fill a summer schedule in weeks. An agreement base, reviews and HVAC SEO compound over seasons.
  • Your budget A smaller budget follows the curve: heavy in the cooling peak, lean in winter. A larger one buys reach in spring, before the auction gets expensive.
  • Your competition Charlotte’s summer auction is crowded at the top. A town an hour out may be cheaper per call, and worth the drive for installs.

Data sets the monthly budget curve, checks each channel against booked jobs by job type, and tells us when to move money between repair, install and maintenance.

  • Residential repair shop, 2 to 5 trucks

    Own the cooling peak locally

Local Services Ads, the Google profile and a review routine first, then a repair-only search campaign that scales with the July curve and pulls back in winter.

  • Repair and replacement, 6 to 25 technicians

Turn summer repairs into fall installs

Separate install campaigns with financing pages for September and October, follow-up email to every summer repair customer with an aging system, and agreement offers in spring.

  • Multi-location or commercial service

    Grow agreements across territories

One account structure by location and job type, commercial maintenance contracts sold through search and LinkedIn, and reporting by territory so budget follows the best margins.

If an HVAC company came to us, here is how we would start.

This is the pitch we would give a real client, built for a fictional Charlotte HVAC company with real search data. The business, its phone number and its website are invented. Sample data shows the kind of results a campaign like this tracks; it is not a client result and not a promise.

How our specialists segment search demand by buyer intent

We would split the account by job type, because each one has its own season, click cost and value. Budget then moves between groups month by month instead of sitting in one pot.

Cooling repair

The summer engine. Scales up from May, peaks in July, and runs call-first whenever the phones are staffed live.

SearchCharlotte area / moEst. click cost
ac repair3,600$19.43 to $80.00
ac repair near me2,400$14.03 to $80.00
emergency ac repair210$17.43 to $80.00

Heating repair

Smaller in Charlotte but sharp: most of the year’s volume lands between October and February.

SearchCharlotte area / moEst. click cost
furnace repair1,300$18.46 to $35.76
furnace repair near me480$4.39 to $30.12
heater repair near me320$16.13 to $45.05

Replacement and installs

Low volume, highest job value. Peaks in September and October, and goes to a financing page, never the homepage.

SearchCharlotte area / moEst. click cost
ac installation390$4.26 to $123.91
ac installation near me320$7.24 to $31.61
ac unit replacement210$5.50 to $39.30

Maintenance and tune-ups

Feeds the agreement list. Bid hardest in spring and fall, when a tune-up fits the schedule.

hvac maintenance720$21.76 to $80.00

How our negative keyword governance protects the budget

  • HVAC jobs and technician hiring
  • HVAC school and EPA certification
  • Refrigerant and parts purchases
  • Window units and portable AC
  • Manufacturer manuals and error codes
  • Supply house and wholesale searches

HVAC searches attract job seekers, students, parts buyers and window-unit shoppers who will never book a truck. Our specialists load these exclusions before launch and review the search terms every week, so the budget stays on homeowners with a central system to fix or replace.

How we write and test the Google search ads

Each intent group gets message-matched ad copy engineered by our specialists to qualify buyers before the click and lift expected click-through rate.

Local Services Ads and the map

HVAC is a Local Services Ads category, so the company would earn Google Verified status and pay per lead. We would switch on the job types that pay (AC repair, heating repair, system installation) and leave out the ones that do not, set the towns the trucks reach in a day, and dispute leads that were not homeowners. In the summer peak we would raise the LSA budget first, because those ads sit above the search ads for "near me" searches.

What each piece turns into, and how they hand off

  1. Search and LSA catch the breakdown No-cool and no-heat calls in the peaks.
  2. The map and reviews win the comparison "Near me" searches pick from the stars.
  3. Social and video sell the plan Agreement sign-ups in spring and early fall.

How our team tracks calls, bookings and revenue

  • Calls by job typeTracked numbers per channel, with each call tagged as repair, install, maintenance or not a lead.
  • Estimates and agreementsEstimate requests, online bookings and agreement sign-ups recorded as separate conversions with their own values.
  • Booked revenue sent backJob status and ticket value from the field service software go back to Google Ads, so bidding learns that an install is worth more than a tune-up.

HVAC marketing in Charlotte, built for a hot, humid market.

We are based in Charlotte, where long humid summers make cooling the busy season and mild winters keep heating shorter and sharper. We plan HVAC campaigns around the towns your technicians reach in a day, from the inner neighborhoods to the newer suburbs where young systems mean maintenance work today and replacements later. We also work with HVAC companies nationwide; in colder markets the curve flips toward heating, and the plan flips with it.

Six growth leaks we fix in HVAC ad accounts.

When we take over HVAC accounts, these are the places we most often find booked jobs leaking, and what we change first.

  1. One budget for every job type

Repairs, installs and tune-ups in one campaign means the cheapest clicks win, which are rarely the most valuable jobs. We give each job type its own budget and target so a tune-up never competes with a full system install.

  2. A flat budget across the year

In Charlotte, July brings about six times February’s AC repair searches. We set a monthly budget curve from the search data and move money ahead of the heat, then pull back before the quiet months burn it.

  3. Selling agreements in July

Maintenance searches peak when the schedule is already full of repairs. We move agreement offers to March, April and early fall, sold through email and social ads, and use summer calls to sign members on the spot.

  4. Letting summer repairs walk away

Every repair on an older system is a replacement lead that many companies never follow up. We tag aging systems in the field service software and reach those homeowners in September, when replacement searches peak.

  5. Bidding on every call as equal

When a 30-second call counts the same as an install, automated bidding chases volume. We send ticket values from ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro or similar software back to Google Ads so bidding favors the jobs that pay.

  6. Paying for LSA job types you do not want

Unchecked Local Services Ads profiles take duct cleaning, window unit and out-of-area leads. We keep the job types to the work that pays, tighten the service area and dispute invalid leads every week.

Questions HVAC companies ask us.

How much should an HVAC company spend on advertising?

It depends on the service area, the mix of repair and install work and how many calls the team can run. We start from the searches in your area and their click costs, set a budget that follows the seasonal curve rather than a flat monthly number, and adjust it as booked-job data shows what each job type returns.

Should we start with Local Services Ads or Google Ads?

Often both, for different jobs. Local Services Ads charge per lead and sit at the top of "near me" searches, which suits repair calls. Search ads give more control over installs, maintenance and the towns you target, and they can send people to a financing or estimate page that LSA cannot.

When should HVAC marketing start for the summer?

Earlier than most companies think. Agreement and tune-up offers work best in March and April, before maintenance searches climb in June. Repair campaigns then scale up from May into the July peak, and install campaigns take over in September and October.

Does HVAC SEO still matter if we run ads?

Yes. HVAC SEO puts your service and town pages in the regular results for repair, replacement and heat pump searches, which lowers your blended cost per job. Ads cover the peaks while the organic pages build, and both feed the same reviews and Google profile.

Do you work with HVAC companies outside Charlotte?

Yes. We are based in Charlotte and work with HVAC companies across the US. The method is the same; the seasonal curve, the click costs and the competition change with the climate and the market.

What do you measure besides leads?

Booked jobs and cost per booked job by job type, replacement estimates and closed installs, and new maintenance agreements. A lead count alone cannot tell a tune-up from a new system, so ticket values from the field service software are part of the reporting.
