Daycare and preschools

Childcare marketing that fills each room, from infants to pre-K

An infant room, a toddler room and a pre-K class fill on different calendars and at different prices per click. We plan search, the Google listing, social ads to nearby parents, tour pages and follow-up email room by room, and we judge them by tours held and children enrolled.

  • $7.13low end of the Charlotte click cost for "infant daycare near me", against $5.01 for "preschool near me"
  • 3.4xCharlotte-area searches for "pre k near me" in January and August 2026 (720 each) against November 2025 (210)
  • 880Charlotte-area searches in August 2026 for "charlotte mecklenburg pre k", the free county program
  • 3.7xCharlotte searches for "in home daycare near me" in October 2025 (260) against April 2026 (70)

The short answer

What makes childcare marketing different from other school marketing?

Childcare marketing sells a seat in one room for one age, so the infant room, the toddler room and pre-K each need their own budget, message and season, measured by tours held and children enrolled.

In the daycare and preschool accounts we audit, one campaign usually covers every age. The result is predictable: the cheaper preschool clicks take the budget while the infant room, the hardest seat to fill and the one parents need soonest, gets the least. We split daycare ads by room, keep them inside the few miles parents will drive, pair them with the Google listing, social ads to nearby parents and a tour page for each age, and pause a room the day it is full. The measure is the cost of each enrolled child by room, read against what that seat earns over a year.

What daycares and preschools need their marketing to solve.

These are the pressures we see in childcare center accounts, from single centers to groups of several sites. They are why a daycare plan is built differently from a private school or college plan.

  • A budget for each room

Infant, toddler, two-year-old and pre-K rooms open and fill at different times. Spend follows the rooms with openings and steps back from the ones with a waitlist.

  • Infants enroll all year

Parental leave ends in every month, so infant demand is steady while preschool and pre-K searches double in January and August. One calendar cannot serve both.

  • A short drive from home or work

Most parents choose care on the way to work. Ads, the map listing and pages focus on the neighborhoods and commute routes a center actually draws from.

  • Teachers before seats

A room can only open when its teachers are hired and ratios are met. Enrollment ads and hiring move together, so ads never sell a room the center cannot staff.

  • Privacy for every child

Parents trust a center with their child and their child’s image. Ads use classrooms, teachers and activities, and show children only with written parent consent.

  • Tours booked the same day

A parent due back at work in six weeks calls several centers on one lunch break. The first center to answer and offer a tour time usually gets the visit.

Infant care is steady, pre-K has two peaks
"infant daycare near me" stayed between 170 and 320 Charlotte-area searches every month, with its high in July 2026. "pre k near me" swung from 210 in November 2025 to 720 in January and again in August 2026, and "pre k programs near me" went from 50 in December to 320 in August. Infant seats sell all year; pre-K seats sell in two short windows.
Neighborhood searches cost more than "near me"
"daycare huntersville nc" starts at $7.68 a click and "daycare ballantyne" at $9.79, against $5.54 for "daycare near me". Parents who name a town have usually chosen the area already, and every center there bids for them. "infant care near me" reaches $40.53 at the top of its range, the highest in the set.
Free pre-K and home daycares have their own seasons
"charlotte mecklenburg pre k", the county’s free pre-K program, averaged 480 searches a month and hit 880 in August 2026. "in home daycare near me" peaked at 260 in October 2025 and fell to 70 in April and June 2026. A center that is a county pre-K site and a family child care home each have a season the general daycare curve hides.

Our approach: it depends, and the data decides.

A new center with an empty infant room and an established preschool with a waitlist need different plans. Four things decide where a childcare plan starts.

  • Your open rooms Fill the infant room, open a new two-year-old class, build next fall’s pre-K or keep a waitlist warm. Each room starts with its own ads, page and budget.
  • Your timeline Search and the map listing can bring tours for an open infant seat within weeks. Room pages, reviews and video build ahead of the January and August pre-K windows.
  • Your seat economics What a full year in a seat earns, and how long a child usually stays from infant room to pre-K, set what a tour and an enrollment can cost.
  • Your competition National chains, church programs, county pre-K sites and home daycares all compete for the same parents. We find the room, radius and message where your center wins.

Data sets the budget for each room, ties every tour and enrollment to the search, listing or ad that started it, and moves spend the week a room fills or a seat opens.

If a daycare came to us, here is how we would start.

This is the pitch we would give a real client, built for a fictional Huntersville childcare center with real search data. The center, its phone number and its website are invented. Sample data shows the kind of results a campaign like this tracks; it is not a client result and not a promise.

How our specialists segment search demand by buyer intent

We would split the account by room, because the infant room fills all year at the highest price per click while preschool and pre-K fill in two seasons. Each group gets its own budget, its own tour page and a radius of a few miles around the center.

Infant and toddler care

Parents with a return-to-work date and few choices. Steady every month and the costliest clicks, so this group runs all year whenever the infant room has a seat.

SearchCharlotte area / moEst. click cost
infant daycare near me210$7.13 to $31.42
infant care near me90$3.25 to $40.53
infant child care near me30$6.10 to $34.68

Preschool and pre-K

Budget weighted to January and August, when these searches more than double. The rest of the year this group runs lean and builds the list for the next school year.

SearchCharlotte area / moEst. click cost
preschool near me1,900$5.01 to $21.85
pre k near me390$4.99 to $20.42
pre k programs near me140$4.22 to $24.57

Daycare near the center

The biggest searches in the plan, held to a few miles around Huntersville and the commute routes toward Charlotte, so the budget reaches parents who can actually drop off.

SearchCharlotte area / moEst. click cost
daycare near me5,400$5.54 to $27.80
child care near me720$4.03 to $20.93
daycare huntersville nc260$7.68 to $25.28

How our negative keyword governance protects the budget

  • Teacher jobs, hiring and certification searches
  • Starting or licensing your own daycare
  • Free county pre-K and Head Start, unless the center is a site
  • Named national chains and rival centers
  • Drop-in, 24-hour and weekend care the center does not offer
  • Public school calendars, worksheets and lesson plans

Daycare searches attract job seekers, people opening their own center and parents looking for programs the center does not run. Our specialists exclude them before launch and review search terms every week, so a $5 to $8 click reaches a parent who can enroll.

How we write and test the Google search ads

Each intent group gets message-matched ad copy engineered by our specialists to qualify buyers before the click and lift expected click-through rate.

The center listing and the map

"Daycare near me" brings up a map before the ads, and parents read it closely. The listing would show each room and age range, opening and closing times, photos of empty classrooms, the playground and the entry, and a tour link. North Carolina licenses and star-rates every center, and parents can check a rating through NC Child Care, so the rating belongs on the listing and the tour page. We ask families for reviews after they enroll, never in exchange for anything, and reply to every one.

The Facebook ad

Many parents start looking months before they search. These ads reach adults within a few miles of the center and people who visited a room page, never anyone selected by data about their children, and they show classrooms and teachers rather than enrolled children.

The email

A tour that never happens is the costliest leak in a childcare account. A reminder before the visit and a short, personal follow-up after it bring more families to the room and more of them to a deposit or a waitlist spot.

Each room gets its own page: infant searches see this page, preschool and pre-K searches see the school-year page. Each one answers the questions parents of that age bring and asks for one thing, a tour.

  1. Search finds parents who need care Infant, preschool and pre-K searches, room by room.
  2. The map and the rating build trust Photos, reviews and the state star rating.
  3. A tour booked the same day Online booking, a call back and a reminder.

How our team tracks calls, bookings and revenue

  • Calls, forms and tour bookings by roomEvery call, form and online tour booking from ads and the listing, tagged by the room and age the parent asked about.
  • Tours held and depositsTours attended, deposits and waitlist sign-ups from the center’s childcare software, sent back as imported offline conversions so bidding favors parents who enroll.
  • Openings by roomA weekly view of open seats by room, so budget moves to the infant room or pre-K the week a seat opens and pauses when it fills.
  • A monthly enrollment reportSpend, inquiries, tours held, enrollments and cost per enrolled child by room and channel, compared with the same month last year.

Childcare marketing from Charlotte, for centers in every market.

We are based in Charlotte, where young families keep moving into Huntersville, Concord, Matthews and the towns around them, and where national chains, church programs, county pre-K sites and home daycares compete for the same parents. Childcare is chosen within a short drive, so we plan each center on the search data of its own few miles and its commute routes. We also work with daycares, preschools and childcare groups nationwide, with each campaign built on its own market’s data.

Six enrollment leaks we fix in daycare ad accounts.

When we take over daycare and preschool accounts, these are the places we most often find tours and enrollments leaking, and what we change first.

  1. One campaign for every age

Preschool clicks are cheaper, so they take the budget while the infant room sits empty. We give each room its own campaign and budget, and pause a room the week it fills.

  2. Advertising rooms with no teachers

Ads that bring tours for a room the center cannot staff waste the budget and the parent’s time. We tie enrollment ads to hiring and open a room’s ads only once its ratios are met.

  3. Photos of enrolled children

Ads and pages built on children’s faces put families’ trust and privacy at risk. We use classrooms, teachers and hands at work, and children only with written parent consent and never with names.

  4. Paying for free pre-K searches

County pre-K and Head Start searches are cheap and plentiful, but a private-pay center cannot serve those families. We exclude them unless the center is a site, and then give them their own page.

  5. A radius drawn too wide

Parents rarely drive far for daycare, yet many accounts show ads across the whole metro. We set the radius from where enrolled families live and work, and bid more inside it.

  6. Calls nobody answers at pickup

Most parents call at lunch or at the end of the day, when directors are busiest. We add online tour booking, an instant text reply and a call back measured in minutes.

Questions daycare and preschool owners ask us.

What should a daycare spend on ads?

It depends on how many seats are open in each room, what a year in each room earns and how crowded the searches are around the center. We start from the searches and click costs inside your radius, set a budget for each room with openings, and adjust it as tour and enrollment data come in.

Should we advertise when we have a waitlist?

Less, and differently. A full room needs its ads paused or switched to waitlist sign-ups, while the listing, reviews and email keep families warm. Paid budget goes to the rooms with openings and comes back when a seat opens.

When should we market pre-K for the fall?

Before the two peaks. In the Charlotte area, "pre k near me" searches reached 720 in January and again in August 2026, against 210 in November. Pages, the listing and reviews should be ready before the January window, when many families start comparing.

Can we show children in our ads?

Only with written consent from their parents, and we still build most creative around classrooms, teachers and activities. Ads are aimed at adults near the center, never at children, and never chosen by data about anyone’s children.

Can you connect to our childcare software?

In most cases, yes. Tours, deposits and enrollments from the center’s enrollment or billing software can flow back to the ad platforms as conversions, so bidding learns which inquiries become enrolled families.

Do you work with centers outside Charlotte?

Yes. We are based in Charlotte and work with daycares, preschools and childcare groups across the US. The method is the same everywhere; the radius, the competitors and the season change with each market.
