Security company marketing that wins guard contracts and monitored accounts

Guard, patrol and alarm companies sell to property managers, facility directors, contractors and event organizers who need coverage on a date. We plan search, your Google listing, LinkedIn, Microsoft Ads and follow-up email around when those contracts are bought, and we count site walk-throughs and signed contracts, not clicks.

  • 390Charlotte-area searches for "security guard company" in January 2026, against 20 to 40 a month from April to September
  • $27.00low end of the estimated click cost for "security system installation", against $5.00 for "security guard company"
  • 880Charlotte-area searches for "alarm systems near me" in March 2026, against 10 to 40 in most other months
  • 480Charlotte-area searches a month for "security guards", a phrase job seekers type too, at $2.04 a click

The short answer

What should security company marketing deliver?

Security company marketing should deliver site walk-throughs and quote requests from properties, sites and events that need coverage, at a cost one signed guard contract or monitored account repays many times over.

In the guard and alarm accounts we review, two businesses are usually sharing one budget without anyone noticing. Guard and patrol searches are cheap and cluster in the fall and early winter, while alarm and installation searches cost about nine times as much and jump in spring. Security company ads work when each line gets its own search campaigns, its own pages and its own season, when the Google listing catches the "near me" searches, and when LinkedIn reaches property and facility managers before their contracts come up for renewal. We judge every channel by cost per walk-through and by signed contracts.

The same words bring in people applying for guard jobs and homeowners pricing a doorbell camera, so filtering them out is the first saving in almost every account we take over.

What security companies need their marketing to solve.

These are the pressures we see in guard, patrol, alarm and integration accounts, from a contract guard company to a monitoring dealer. They are why digital marketing for security companies is planned differently from the rest of business services.

  • Contracts bought on a calendar

Commercial guard contracts, retail holiday coverage and new budgets cluster from October to January. The company that is visible before the renewal date gets the walk-through.

  • Job seekers use the same words

Guard companies are always hiring, so "security guards" and "armed security" searches mix people applying for work with people buying coverage. Ads and pages have to tell them apart.

  • Two price levels in one account

Guard terms start near $2 to $5 a click while alarm and installation terms start at $27. One shared budget lets the expensive line starve the cheap one, or the other way around.

  • Trust checked before the call

Buyers look for licensing, insurance, response times, supervision and how incidents are reported. A thin site loses the shortlist before anyone calls.

  • The map for urgent coverage

A construction manager who needs a night guard by Friday searches "near me" and calls from the map. A complete listing with real reviews and replies wins that call.

  • Buyers who never search

Property management firms, HOAs, hospitals and schools often renew without a new search. They have to know the company already, through LinkedIn, email and referrals.

Guard contracts are bought from October to January
"security guard company" drew 210 Charlotte-area searches in October and November 2025 and 390 in January 2026, then 20 to 40 a month from April to September. "unarmed security guard" went from 260 in October 2025 to 20 to 40 in the spring and summer, and "private security companies" peaked at 320 in November. Guard campaigns are planned in late summer.
Alarm clicks cost about nine times guard clicks
Across the alarm and installation terms in our plan, the low end of the Charlotte click cost averages $26.27, weighted by searches; across the guard and patrol terms it is $3.01. "alarm systems near me" jumped to 880 searches in March 2026 and 390 in April, from 10 to 40 in most months, so the alarm budget rises in spring.
Many searches are not buyers
"security guards" (480 a month at $2.04) and "security companies hiring" (40) bring people looking for guard work. "home security cameras wireless" (140 at $1.18) and "carbon monoxide detector" (3,600) bring homeowners shopping for devices, and "vivint security company" (720) is a national brand search. None of them signs a guard or monitoring contract.

Our approach: it depends, and the data decides.

A contract guard company, a mobile patrol service, an alarm and monitoring dealer and a commercial integrator reach different buyers on different calendars. Four things decide where a security company marketing strategy starts.

  • Your goals More guard hours, patrol routes, monitored accounts or installation projects. Each starts with different keywords, offers and landing pages.
  • Your buyers’ calendar Guard buyers search in the fall and January; alarm buyers search in spring; event and construction coverage is booked weeks ahead. The budget follows those months.
  • Your contract value Weekly guard hours and monthly monitoring fees add up over years. That lifetime value, not the first invoice, sets what a walk-through can cost.
  • Your competition National guard firms and alarm brands bid on the broad terms. A regional company wins on response time, supervision, local references and the property types it knows.

Data ties each walk-through to the search, ad or listing that started it, follows it through the proposal and the signed contract, and shows which property types and service lines bring clients who renew.

If a security company came to us, here is how we would start.

This is the pitch we would give a real client, built for a fictional Charlotte security company with real search data. The company, its phone number and its website are invented. Sample data shows the kind of results a campaign like this tracks; it is not a client result and not a promise.

How our specialists segment search demand by buyer intent

We would split the account by what the buyer needs covered. Guard and patrol terms are cheap and seasonal; alarm and system terms are expensive and peak in spring. Each group gets its own budget, ads and page, so spend follows the searches that turn into signed contracts.

Guard and patrol contracts

The core of the business and the cheapest clicks in the plan. Budget rises from October to January, when these searches peaked, and every ad says it is about coverage, not jobs.

SearchCharlotte area / moEst. click cost
security guard company110$5.00 to $18.00
private security companies110$1.88 to $5.95
armed security guard110$1.60 to $26.52
unarmed security guard90$0.87 to $5.00
security companies near me90$5.00 to $40.37

Event and site security

Small but urgent: a date, a site and a budget. These searches get call-only ads during business hours and a page that answers coverage and lead time.

SearchCharlotte area / moEst. click cost
event security20$2.14 to $4.40
construction site security10$12.42 to $37.07

Alarm systems and monitoring

The most expensive group, starting at $27 a click. Exact and phrase match only, budget raised for March and April, and commercial wording that screens out homeowners shopping for devices.

SearchCharlotte area / moEst. click cost
alarm systems near me140$27.00 to $89.23
security systems near me110$27.00 to $115.26
security system installation90$27.00 to $89.90
alarm companies50$27.00 to $80.90
fire alarm monitoring30$16.77 to $61.61

Cameras and access control

Project buyers at offices, warehouses and multifamily properties. Smaller volume and longer decisions, so these clicks also feed retargeting and email.

SearchCharlotte area / moEst. click cost
access control90$5.83 to $19.56
access control system50$12.32 to $65.73
security camera installation50$8.74 to $29.00
video surveillance systems30$3.75 to $35.00

How our negative keyword governance protects the budget

  • Guard jobs, hiring, pay and applications
  • Guard licenses, training and classes
  • Do-it-yourself cameras, doorbells and devices
  • National alarm brand names and logins
  • Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
  • Police, jail and government security jobs

Job seekers and device shoppers outnumber contract buyers on most security terms. Our specialists build these lists before launch and read the search terms every week, because a week of applicants on guard terms and shoppers on $27 alarm terms costs more than a walk-through.

How we write and test the Google search ads

Each intent group gets message-matched ad copy engineered by our specialists to qualify buyers before the click and lift expected click-through rate.

The LinkedIn ad

Property and facility managers decide on guard contracts before the January searches peak, often without searching at all. This ad reaches property managers, facility directors and HOA managers at Charlotte-area companies from September, so Tallmarsh is already on the list when bids go out.

The email

The walk-through is the offer on every page and ad. This email confirms it and a short series follows each proposal, because a guard contract can wait weeks for a board or an owner to approve it.

What each piece turns into, and how they hand off

  1. Search catches the need Guard, patrol and alarm searches with buying intent.
  2. The map wins urgent calls Same-week coverage from the Google listing.
  3. LinkedIn reaches renewals Property and facility managers before bids.
  4. Contracts teach the bidding Signed contracts sent back to every ad platform.

How our team tracks calls, bookings and revenue

  • Calls, walk-throughs and quotesCalls, walk-through requests and alarm quotes recorded in Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, LinkedIn and analytics as separate conversions, by keyword group and landing page.
  • Job applicants kept apartCalls and forms about jobs tagged and removed from lead counts, so bidding never learns to find applicants.
  • Signed contracts and monitored accountsSigned guard contracts and new monitoring accounts sent back to the ad platforms as offline conversions, with their monthly value, so bidding favors buyers who sign and renew.
  • A monthly report on the pipelineSpend, walk-throughs, cost per walk-through, proposals, signed contracts and monthly contract value, by service line and property type.

Security company marketing from Charlotte, for security companies everywhere.

We are based in Charlotte, where office towers, distribution centers, new construction, stadium events and fast-growing apartment communities keep guard and alarm companies busy. Buyers here search by service and town, and the map decides many urgent calls, so we plan pages, listings and ads by the service areas and property types you cover. We work with security companies across the Charlotte region and nationwide.

Six growth leaks we fix in security company ad accounts.

When we take over guard, patrol and alarm accounts, these are the places we most often find contracts leaking, and what we change first.

  1. Paying for job applicants

Broad match on "security guards" and "armed security" fills the account with people applying for work. We add job negatives before launch, keep buying terms on exact and phrase match and remove applicant calls from the lead count.

  2. One budget for guards and alarms

Alarm terms start at $27 a click and guard terms near $2 to $5. Shared budgets let one line drain the other, so we split campaigns and budgets by service line.

  3. Starting in January

Guard company searches in the Charlotte area ran high from October 2025 and peaked in January 2026. We start LinkedIn and email in September, so managers know the company when contracts go out for bid.

  4. The license number missing from ads

North Carolina’s Private Protective Services Board rule 14B NCAC 16 .0116, in effect since September 1, 2025, requires the licensee’s name and license number in every advertisement. We put it in ads, pages and listings from day one.

  5. A homepage as the landing page

A construction manager who needs night coverage and a retail center that wants a monitored alarm read different things. We build a page per service line and property type, each with a walk-through form.

  6. An empty Google listing

Urgent buyers call from the map. Listings without service areas, real photos or review replies lose those calls, so we treat the listing as a channel with its own reporting.

Questions security companies ask us.

When do businesses look for a security guard company?

In our Charlotte data, "security guard company" searches ran from 140 to 390 a month between October 2025 and January 2026, and 20 to 40 a month from April to September. Contracts, holiday retail coverage and new budgets drive that window, so guard campaigns are planned in late summer.

Why do alarm clicks cost so much more than guard clicks?

Because national alarm brands and dealers compete for the same buyers. In the Charlotte area, "security system installation" and "alarm systems near me" start at $27 a click, while "security guard company" starts at $5. We keep them in separate campaigns with separate budgets.

How do you keep job seekers out of guard campaigns?

With job and training negatives before launch, ad copy that speaks to buyers of coverage, and tracking that tags applicant calls and forms, so they never count as leads or teach the bidding.

Is LinkedIn worth it for a security company?

For commercial guard and integration work, usually. Property managers, facility directors and HOA managers renew contracts without always searching, and LinkedIn reaches them by title before the bids go out.

Do you work with alarm dealers and integrators too?

Yes. Alarm and monitoring dealers lean more on spring search, the map and quote follow-up; integrators lean more on LinkedIn, Microsoft Ads and project tracking. The measurement is the same: signed contracts and monthly value.

Do you work with security companies outside Charlotte?

Yes. We are based in Charlotte and plan security company marketing for guard, patrol and alarm companies nationwide. The method is the same everywhere; the licensing rules, seasons and competition change by state.
