Windows and doors
Window and door marketing that pays for buyers, not browsers
A replacement window project is a large, planned purchase decided at the kitchen table after an in-home estimate. We run search ads, your Google profile, social ads and email as one plan, and we judge it by estimates set and projects signed.
- 1,600 vs 110Charlotte-area searches for "window replacement contractors" in July 2026, against November 2025
- $37.16 vs $5.91low-end estimated click cost, "replacement windows near me" against "window replacement cost", in Charlotte
- 590 vs 90"energy efficient windows" searches in the Charlotte area, January 2026 against August 2026
- $0.18low-end click cost for "storm doors", searched about 1,300 times a month in the Charlotte area
The short answer
What does window and door marketing have to get right?
Window and door marketing has to separate homeowners ready to book an in-home estimate from people still pricing windows or shopping for a storm door, because the two cost very different amounts per click.
Most window and door accounts we audit bid the same on price researchers as on homeowners asking for a contractor. Hiring searches such as "replacement windows near me" start above $37 a click, while cost and price searches start near $6. Contractor searches jump in July, energy efficiency searches peak in January, and storm and screen door searches are mostly cheap retail shopping. As a window company marketing partner we build separate groups for each, run window and door advertising that sells the in-home estimate, and grow SEO for window and door companies around window types, door types and town pages. Every channel is read as cost per estimate set and cost per signed project.
What window and door companies need their marketing to solve.
These are the pressures we see in window and door ad accounts and sales calendars. They are why a window and door plan is not a copy of a repair trade plan.
-
A long, planned decision
Few homeowners replace windows on impulse. They research prices for weeks, compare two or three companies and decide after an in-home estimate, often with both owners at the table.
-
Expensive hiring clicks
Searches that signal hiring, such as "window companies near me", carry some of the highest click costs in home services. Every wasted click on a browser costs real money.
-
Windows and doors are different sales
A whole-house window project, a new front door and a sliding patio door differ in value, season and buyer. One campaign for all of them hides which work is profitable.
-
Retail shoppers in the same searches
Storm doors, screen doors, window screens and pet doors draw large volume at very low click costs. Most of those searchers want a product off a shelf, not an installed project.
-
National brands in every auction
Large replacement window brands and big-box installers bid on the same searches with national budgets. A local company wins on its own reviews, nearby installs and town pages.
-
Quotes that need follow-up
Many estimates do not sign on the first visit. Financing options, a follow-up sequence and photos of finished homes nearby decide whether the quote turns into a project.
What window and door customers search, and when.
Monthly searches and estimated click costs for the searches a window and door company competes for. A twelve-month average hides when hiring searches spike, so the notes below the table read the monthly curve.
| Search | US / mo | Est. click cost, Charlotte |
|---|---|---|
| storm doors | 90,500 | $0.18 to $4.88 |
| window replacement | 60,500 | $25.08 to $81.74 |
| front door replacement | 27,100 | $7.11 to $39.00 |
| window replacement charlotte | 590 | $35.24 to $105.15 |
| replacement windows near me | 49,500 | $37.16 to $105.79 |
| window replacement contractors | 27,100 | $18.01 to $67.39 |
| energy efficient windows | 33,100 | $4.49 to $41.84 |
| window installation | 33,100 | $23.77 to $80.00 |

- Hiring searches spike in summer
- In the Charlotte area, "window replacement contractors" sat at 110 searches in November and December 2025, then reached 1,600 in July 2026 and 480 in August. "Entry door replacement" ran 10 to 70 a month most of the year and hit 1,000 in July 2026. "Window installation" held near 210 a month and rose to 590 in September 2026.
- Efficiency is a winter message
- "Energy efficient windows" drew 590 Charlotte searches in January 2026 and 480 in most months from October to February, then fell to 90 in August and September. "Energy star certified windows" peaked at 390 in February and dropped to 10 by August. Efficiency and comfort sell in the cold months; the summer buyer is already shopping for a contractor.
- Doors split into projects and products
- "Front door replacement" held at 320 to 480 searches a month all year at a $7.11 low-end click cost. "Storm doors" and "screen doors" drew 1,000 to 1,600 a month, with screen doors peaking in March and April 2026, at click costs under $0.20. Those are mostly product shoppers, so we treat them as a separate, low-cost decision.

Our approach: it depends, and the data decides.
A two-crew installer and a showroom dealer selling several product lines across the region need different plans. Four things decide where a window and door plan starts.
- Your goals More whole-house window projects, more entry and patio doors, a new product line or a new territory. Each one starts with a different campaign, offer and landing page.
- Your timeline Search ads can set estimates within days. Reviews, project galleries and window and door SEO build over months and lower the cost of every estimate after that.
- Your budget A smaller budget goes to hiring searches and Charlotte-named terms in the peak months. A larger one adds door groups, efficiency messaging in winter and video for the summer season.
- Your competition National brands bid hard on "near me" and generic replacement terms. Window types, door types and town-named searches are often far cheaper per estimate set.
Data decides which product line gets the budget each month, which searches are researchers or retail shoppers, and which leads sign the most valuable projects.

If a window and door company came to us, here is how we would start.
This is the pitch we would give a real client, built for a fictional Charlotte window and door company with real search data. The business, its phone number and its website are invented. Sample data shows the kind of results a campaign like this tracks; it is not a client result and not a promise.

How our specialists segment search demand by buyer intent
We would split the account by what the searcher is ready to do and by product, because each group costs a different amount per click and peaks in a different month. Budget can then follow hiring searches into summer without paying hiring prices for researchers.

How our negative keyword governance protects the budget
- Storm, screen and pet doors to buy
- Window screens and glass panes only
- Garage doors and openers
- Interior, closet and pocket doors
- Store and catalog product searches
- Competitor and national brand names
Charlotte searches such as "storm doors" (1,300 a month at a $0.18 low-end click cost), "screen doors" and "garage door installation near me" (2,400 a month) sit right beside window and door searches. Our specialists load these exclusions before launch and read the search terms weekly, so the budget pays for homeowners who want an installed project.
How we write and test the Google search ads
Each intent group gets message-matched ad copy engineered by our specialists to qualify buyers before the click and lift expected click-through rate.

Local Services Ads and the map
Window repair services appear on Google’s list of Local Services Ads categories, so a licensed and insured company that passes Google’s checks can earn Google Verified status and pay per lead. Because most of a window company’s value is in replacement projects, we would weigh LSA cost per estimate set against search ads, switch on only the job types worth a visit and dispute leads for glass-only or out-of-area work. The map listing would carry finished homes, each product as a service and a reply to every review.
The Facebook ad
Contractor searches in Charlotte jump in July. From May these ads show before-and-after photos to homeowners in the service area, so the name is known when they start comparing companies.
The email
Many estimates do not sign on the first visit. This goes out a few days after every open quote, so the project stays with the company that did the measuring.

Window and door marketing services, and which come first.
The four core services carry most window and door plans. The others join as the company grows; a two-crew installer and a dealer with a showroom rarely need the same mix.

What has worked for window, door and home service companies.
Results the ad platforms published for home service companies, including a door and window dealer. They are those companies’ published results, not ours; each story shows what we would take from it for a window and door company.
Window and door marketing in Charlotte, season by season.
We are based in Charlotte, where whole neighborhoods of homes built in the 1990s and 2000s still have their original builder-grade windows and doors. Hot, humid summers push cooling bills up and show every draft and failed seal, and mild winters bring enough cold mornings to make efficiency a real selling point. Older homes in the city’s historic districts bring their own window and door questions. We plan window and door campaigns around the towns your crews cover and the neighborhoods where your best projects come from. We also work with window and door companies nationwide; in colder markets the efficiency season runs longer, and the plan follows the local curve.
Six growth leaks we fix in window and door ad accounts.
When we take over window and door accounts, these are the places we most often find estimates and projects leaking away, and what we change first.
Hiring prices for research clicks
"Replacement windows near me" starts at $37.16 a click in Charlotte, against $5.91 for "window replacement cost". We split researchers into their own low-bid group with a price guide, so the expensive budget goes to homeowners ready to hire.
A flat budget into the summer peak
Charlotte "window replacement contractors" searches went from 110 in November 2025 to 1,600 in July 2026. We raise window budgets before June instead of running out of money in the busiest month.
Efficiency ads in the wrong season
"Energy efficient windows" searches fell from 590 in January to 90 in August. We run efficiency and comfort messages from October to February and switch to project and contractor messages for the summer.
Paying for garage door and storm door shoppers
The word "door" pulls in garage door, storm door and screen door searches by the thousands every month. We exclude them before launch and keep door budgets on entry and patio door projects.
Quotes left to go cold
An open estimate without follow-up often signs with the next company. We set up a follow-up sequence with the quote, financing options and photos of nearby installs.
Counting leads instead of signed projects
A form fill for a single window pane and a whole-house project look the same in a lead count. We send signed contract values back to Google Ads so bidding learns which leads become projects.
Questions window and door companies ask us.
How much should a window and door company spend on ads?
It depends on the service area, how many estimates your sales team can run each week and the mix of windows and doors you want. In Charlotte, hiring searches such as "replacement windows near me" start around $37 a click, while price searches start near $6, so we size the budget from your project mix and season.
When is the busy season for window and door leads?
In the Charlotte area, contractor and installation searches peaked in July to September 2026, while energy efficiency searches peaked from October to February. We move budget and messages with those curves instead of spending evenly.
Is window and door advertising different from other home services?
Yes. Most home service calls are urgent, but window and door projects are planned purchases decided after an in-home estimate, often with financing. The plan sells the estimate, follows up open quotes and judges every channel by signed projects.
Should we sell storm and screen doors through ads?
Usually not as a project campaign. Those searches are large but cost under $0.20 a click because most people want a product to buy. If you sell and install them, we give them a separate small budget and page; otherwise they stay excluded.
Does SEO still matter for a window company that runs ads?
Yes. Window type, door type, price and town pages bring estimate requests without a per-click cost, which lowers the blended cost per signed project. Ads cover the summer peak while those pages build.
Do you work with window and door companies outside Charlotte?
Yes. We are based in Charlotte and work with window and door companies across the US. The method is the same; the seasons, click costs and competition change by market.
